A Girl Must Vacay
I spent last weekend in Bliss. Well, actually I was in Provincetown, MA, but it felt like Bliss. My boyfriend and I spent the weekend at the Crowne Pointe Inn in Provincetown, MA and boy did we have a great time!
From beginning to end the experience was fabulous. The Inn was gorgeous and the location was perfect - right off Commercial Street - renowned for eclectic shopping and dining. On the second floor of a guest house adjacent to the main building, our room was cozy and nicely decorated. We had a huge, very tall four poster bed, complete with wooden steps to assist in getting in and out and the large bath featuring a large whirlpool tub.
On initial inspection of the room, we were delighted with a welcome gift including a letter of welcome, a chowder bowl and the Inn's famous clam chowder recipe. Wasting no time, we jumped right into the whirlpool bath which fit both of us with plenty of room to spare, so that it wasn't crowded even with the the Crowne Pointe Inn rubber ducky.
That evening we enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese hour choosing from a wide variety of wines, beer and an assortment of cheese, crackers and pastries. We no sooner sat down that we were engaged in a lovely discussion with another couple staying at the inn. This hour transformed the Inn from a hotel to a home - we felt really welcome and part of a family.
Our package included dinner one night, which we enjoyed on our first night. Not only was the food amazing (my lobster ravioli was unlike anything I had ever tasted - with lots of fresh lobster meat and a tangy tomato sauce instead of a heavy cream that accompanies most lobster ravioli dishes), but the service was extremely friendly and impeccable. We even have a lively discussion with the couple seated next to us. We ended the meal with a decadent chocolate dessert which we had packaged up and brought back to the room.
Which brings us to turn-down service! We got back to our room and our bed was turned down and on our bed was a letter with the weather and menus for the next day as well as a sample of sleep balm. It's the little things that make it perfect!
The next morning we headed down to the complimentary breakfast, delighted to see a wide selection of foods including a daily special (eggs, bacon, and waffles) in addition to fruit, cereal, homemade granola, yogurt, fruit, pastries, toast, bagels, and muffins and your typical breakfast beverages.
Also part of our package, we enjoyed a couples massage after a long walk following breakfast. We felt pampered in robes and slippers and I nearly fell asleep on the warm soft massage table. How relaxing!
Turn-down service that night included a similar letter announcing eggs benedict for breakfast and left chocolates! Mmmm chocolate!
We ended our stay after breakfast (the eggs benedict were out of this world). The lady who checked us out was very nice and asked about our stay. She even gave me a little ducky to take home with me, as my boyfriend had mentioned that I fell in love with it.
I left the Crowne Pointe Inn with a great feeling, like I was leaving a friend's house after a weekend visit, looking forward to the next time.
