Natural-looking lipstick for shiny, happy people
Have you been desperately trying to find a lipstick that actually looks natural on your fair skin, but to no avail? Well, look no more. Clinique has the most amazing, flattering lipstick that combines the staying power of a lipstick with the natural finish of a gloss. The Color Surge Butter Shine Lipstick truly does feel like butt"ah" on your lips, and the Berry Blush color is the perfect rosy, slightly-shimmery everyday hue for fair-skinned chicas like me. No more buying a lipstick that you think looks good in the tube only to realize when you get home that it looks totally different on your lips! I am so hooked on this stuff that I actually went through it in only three months! My lipstick woes are over!
Get my favorite "Berry Blush" for $14 or choose the similar "In the Pink" color for the same price and $10 from your purchase helps support The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

I want the natural glow too!
After hearing all the buzz about the Bare Escentuals line, I finally gave in and realized what they have been saying is true; this is the most amazing foundation I have ever used!
Because my fair, freckled skin tends to get splotchy and dry, I have a really hard time finding makeup. I was gifted the starter kit for my birthday and from the very first use I could tell I was going to love this product. My freckles still shine through all the while giving my skin a beautiful glow and even tone. What I love the most is that I can hardly tell I have anything on my face.
I got the starter kit from Sephora, but the Bare Escentuals site offers the kit plus three freebies For the same price!

Beauty for a Buck
I've seen it around (in practically every magazine I read) but for some reason I never visited the site until my cousin raved about it. Like me, she's a bargain shopper, so when she happened upon e.l.f., she just had to share.
e.l.f. (eye lips face) is a cosmetics brand that is the uber bargain - every item is just $1. Now, this is no dollar-store quality make-up, oh no. This stuff is great quality, there's a huge selection and it's cheap!
Check out this Color Therapy Kit for just $10 with 20% of proceeds going to Women's Informational Network Against Breast Cancer. A cute bag and a ton of pink goodies for a good cause. Go ahead. You know you want to!

Your friends will think they're fake!
Recently while chatting with a coworker I remarked at how long her eyelashes were:
Whitney: *blah blah blah work blah*
Me: Are those fake eyelashes?
Whitney: Oh no! I just started using this really great mascara. (She shows me the tube of The Dior DiorShow Unlimited mascara) It makes my lashes super-long and fabulous curl without nasty clumps
Me: Yeah, I hate clumps!
Whitey: Yeah, I only have to use two coats and look how full they are!
Me: *Googles Dior Diorshow Unlimited* Yikes! $23! I usually pay less than $10 at the drugstore
Whitney: Yeah, me too, but I splurged and it's totally worth the money.
Me: hmmm, I might have to splurge too!
Whitney: Oh! Try the older Diorshow, too. it has a bigger brush to get all your lashes.
Me: I just might!

Plump it up!
Haven't we all tried those lip plumping serums? Haven't we all been disappointed with the results? I thought so! I had just about given up on them until I got a free sample of Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme...and all I can say is WOW!!! Not only did it plump them up, but it reddened them just a bit too! You can even put lipstick over it after letting it sit for 5 or 10 minutes!
Now, they claim it's "formulated to Increase lip volume and plumpness permanently with continued use." I don't know about that, I've just started using it. But I'll surely let you know! In the meantime, try it for yourself. I'd suggest putting it on at bedtime the first time as it really is strong and really tingles!

For those of us who love to lick chocolate off our fingers!
My aunt Darlene just submitted this addendum to "Because we Chocolovers like to WEAR our chocolate".
"For us chocolovers Chocolate Shake-speare nail lacquer is subtle, smooth, creamy... oops! I almost forgot I was talking about nail polish! For a chocolate connoisseur such as yourself Megan, this would be a great addition to your collection of chocolate cosmetics. Also available by OPI is the matching lipliner and lipstick!"
How did she know I had a collection of chocolate cosmetics!?

Shine On Me!
We've all heard of Burt's Bees but have you tried it? Their products are simply great and made from natural ingredients. I tried the Lip Shimmers and now I'm hooked! It feels so good on your lips. It doesn't give you that sticky feeling, it's lightweight, and is available in a number of shades.
I have the shade, "Champagne" and its a light pink shimmery bliss! Other shades include: Fig, Cocoa, Guava, Papaya, Toffee, Coffee, Merlot, Nutmeg, Raisin, Rhubarb, and Watermelon. Trust me, once you try it you''ll want them all! As usual, great prices on Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer at Amazon.com!

Sometimes it's good to be "Too Faced"
I have absolutely fallen in love with this new mascara called Lash Injection from Too Faced. Here's the description from the web site:
Thisexclusive, 3D formula actually builds tubes around each lash. This "Lash Injection" has unique elastic polymers that curl, fatten, and stretch far beyond the natural lash. This adds extreme volume, curl and length for that costly lash extension look without any of the hassle, pain or commitment. . You will no longer see clumps and lumps - but long, gorgeous, fluttering, new and improved eyelashes.
And it's TRUE, well, for me, maybe not the "fluttering", but definitely improved eyelashes! This stuff is fantastic! I don't wear much makeup, but since I purchased this, I've worn it every day! No need to curl your lashes first, just swipe and go!

I found Hope! In a jar!
Perusing the most recent Sephora.com
catalog last night, I came across Philosophy Hope in a Jar
- touted as Sephora's best-selling moisturizer.

Um, how have I missed this? I'm a huge fan of Sephora and the Philosophy line; how did I not know that this was a huge seller? I must be slacking on my makeup homework, that's for sure.
That's all I needed to know; I'm heading out to Sephora today to pick me up some. I mean, how could I resist a best-selling moisturizer that leaves a healthy, rosy glow to the skin that doesn't require makeup or cover up? Let's see how it stacks up compared to the old reliable Neutrogena Moisture.
Be sure to visit Sephora's MOST WANTED to see all of Sephora's best sellers!
BONUS!!! Free Shipping over $50. Enter promo code FREESHIP5 at checkout. Offer valid through 7/19/07.
Oh, by the way, have you tried Philosophy Hope in a Jar? Let us know what you think in the comments!

Lancome gives the best lashes! + coupon for free gifts and shipping!
I am no stranger to shopping, and certainly no stranger to makeup. So, as you might imagine, I have shopped for my fair share of makeup. I would have to say, though, that the makeup product that I’ve shopped for the most would be mascara, constantly searching for that one perfect go-to. I am a sucker for slick mascara marketing, so I’ve tried almost every mascara under the sun. I’ve tried mascara that ranges from the highest of the high end to the lowest of the low end in terms of price point – I’m willing to try anything that promises to lengthen, thicken, or otherwise emphasize my somewhat pale lashes – and believe me when I say that I very well may have tried them all!
In so doing, I think I have finally stumbled upon one that actually lives up to what it promises to deliver, and that is Lancome Hypnose. I was a long-time Lancome Definicils wearer. Definicils is a Lancome best-seller, touted as the mascara that will give you long, perfectly defined lashes, shaped and separated.
While perfectly happy with Definicils, I decided to branch out and try Lancome’s newest mascara offering – Hypnose. Hypnose promises to intensify your lashes from root to tip, giving them up to 6 times their volume, and they do this with an interestingly designed brush and a vitamin B5 fortified formula. Now I can’t say that I’ve attempted to quantify this, but Hypnose makes my lashes look longer, fuller, and certainly more intense. I’ve never had a problem with clumping, either, and that’s usually my chief complaint with even the highest end mascara.
Bottom line? I’ve tried many, many mascaras out there, from to Dior and Chanel to Cover Girl and Wet ‘n Wild, and every time I branch out to try something new, I wind up coming back to Lancome.

Bobbi Brown eyeshadow - just say no to clowns!
Ok, I love, love, love Bobbi's approach to beauty: don't go overboard and look like a clown! I am totally for that. I am sure you have all seen a woman, young or old who is rocking way, way, way to much makeup and more importantly shadows. Yikes, Halloween only comes once a year so let's try and keep the shadow simple and pretty till 10/31.
I don't have this particular metallics eye shadow palette but I do have other shadows from Bobbi. I love them for many reasons some of the best points of interest for me are:
- Pigment - The depth of the color is wonderful even when it's a light shade the pigment is amazing; I can always see what I have applied.
- Texture - I find these shadows to be velvety smooth to the touch which allows application to be flawless and smooth
- Stayability - I don't use a ton of shadow but I do like some and I have a few lines that I am partial to only because I know I can get an entire day out of one application and Bobbi's are right up there at the top of the list, I know that I will have minimal creasing and the shadow will stay put! I love that!!
All in all, these are not on the expensive side but they are worth it, less effort, amazing colors and a great product, makes me dish out the dough over and over and over again!! Bobbi's newest Metallics eye shadow is a high-shimmer formula with a soft and creamy feel. This palm-sized palette features three high-pigment colors that apply smoothly and evenly—stays crease-free for all-day wear. Metallic Eye Shadows Featured: Sage, Balsam and Forest. There are also 3 other GORGEOUS palettes!

I'm hitched
I am hitched and have some fabulous stuff to review. I love products so instead of hiring someone I decided to do my hair and make-up myself, that way, I can keep all my own products. First was some unbelievable foundation I found. I have freckles but didn't want to cover them, I didn't want to look painted; I wanted to be me just a little brighter! MAC makes a great lightweight foundation that felt great on my skin. ![]()
For my lips, well that was a bit of a challenge. I have a really hard time liking any color on my lips. After trying about twenty different shades and textures I found Stila Long Wear Lip Color; exquisite. It feels awesome, not like most long wear lipsticks that are thick, tacky or cakey.![]()
Next was the hard part, my hair. I wanted to leave my hair down but had no idea how to get that cool wavy beach hair. A friend recommended the Revlon Hair Waver. I'll be honest when I opened this up I was apprehensive; it looks like an assault weapon! My bff came over and did a test run and it worked fabulously. Combined with Redken Hair starch It created just the look I was hoping for.
Lastly was the fragrance. Stacked Style Carnival Crush. Sent of peaches and Jasmine, light, fruity and clean. It's my favorite.

Suki Kramer - The true mother of invention
Someone said "Necessity is the mother of invention". The internet says it was Plato. The makeup gods say it was Suki Kramer. Tired of products that always irritated her sensitive skin and allergies, Suki quite literally took matters in to her own hands and came up with the suki line of fresh finish mineral cream makeup products and pure skin care products.
Made from organic, vegetarian, cruelty-free natural ingredients, these products are good for your skin and for your environment. Suki's products are also unique in that they are multitaskers: The triple cream eye definer can be used as a shadow, liner or brow definer; the pure cream stain is used for lip or cheek. Even better, the shades of each can be mixed and matched and blended to come up with your own signature colour.
Ah, all that organic good-for-you stuff is fine and good, but how well do they work? Asks you. Most awesomely, says I
. The pure cream stain as a lip colour goes on with a smooth, rich glide (use a lipstick brush to apply). The colour varies in intensity the more you put on: use a little bit for a hint of colour, a lot for full-on look-out lady lips. The product is very matte and as a result long-lasting; our team had it on for hours with no need to reapply. If you like a look with more shine, you'll need to add a lip gloss on top. Either way, lips feel smooth, soft, and look sweet!
The Triple Cream Eye definer works similarly in that if you want intense colour, just put more product on! Since it's a cream, it feels different if you're used to a powder - it goes on exceptionally smoothly and spreads beautifully, but it isn't dry instantly. So the eyelids may feel a little clammy temporarily - blending very well helps this. But it's worth it - this cream has kick ass staying power.
The sukicolor line also includes tinted active moisturizer - the equivalent to foundation, liquid formula concealer, and rich pigment mascara.

Go from pastey to glowing with Too Faced Snow Bunny
On a recent Sunday morning I took my mother to the mall (she doesn't drive). She wanted perfume and I suggested we go to Sephora.
"Whats Sephora?" she asked.
*blink* *blink* *BLINK* I replied.
So I grabbed her arm and lead the way to cosmetic heaven. Her face, when she walked in, was priceless. Needless to say, we were there for over an hour.
I took this time to try everything, poke at it, wear it, rub it, smell it... then I stumbled upon the Too Faced cosmetic display and started playing with their "Caribbean In A Compact" line and tried "Snow Bunny". Loved it. However, I think I loved the Teddy Bear Hair Kabuki Brush more! So I got both. My mother looked at me when leaving and says "why do you look so good!? I need to KNOW what you used!"
I have been using "Snow Bunny" for about two months not and get a ton of compliments. I also use it for eyeshadow!
COUPON ALERT!

No more makeup meltdowns! Thanks IcyBag!
I live in the South, where it can get ungodly hot in the summer. Even in the winter, the inside of a car can heat up, causing one to drive around with their windows down in 40 degree weather. In the past, if I need to pack makeup in my car for traveling or touch-ups, I had to pack it all in a lunch cooler so it doesn't melt.

Flowers for your eyes by Laura Mercier
That is the first thing I said when I spotted Laura Mercier Eye Colour Quad. Not only are the four shades of lilac lovely, but the floral design stamped into the colors is a nice, ladylike touch. The colors can be worn alone or, as suggested in the February issue of InStyle magazine, blended together for a smokey eye.
If you are like me, desperately waiting for Spring, this tiny compact can work wonders to cure those Winter blues. The compact comes in Wild Violet, a mix of Black-violet, eggplant, pink-mauve, ivory-pearlor Shy Violet, a mix of Deep-eggplant, shimmery-maroon, mauve, pale-ivory-pink.
Head on over to Nordstrom and check it out. It's the perfect time to buy since you'll receive free deluxe samples & cosmetics. Don't forget the big sale going on - save 33% or more on apparel, shoes & more for the whole family.

Fiberwig Lashes Out!
They say blondes have more fun. Well, as a blonde I can tell you that the saying doesn’t apply to blondes’ eyelashes. My eyelashes aren’t exactly blonde, but they are very light brown — making them look puny.
I have spent years and countless dollars trying to find mascara that would increase the appearance of my lashes without feeling like I had stage make-up on. I tried brands you find in drug stores and discount chains, in department stores, even those found in upper-end cosmetic boutiques. I had just about given up until luck shined itself upon me.
I decided to give my unfulfilled mascara search one more try and sought out Fiberwig by Imju. Standing in Sephora, staring at the package I thought to myself, “Is this really going to help me?” The salesperson said it would dramatically increase the appearance of my lashes and supported the product’s claim that it is like painting on false eyelashes. I was a bit skeptical, but decided to give it a shot.
What a difference from all the others! Fiberwig not only increased the appearance of my lashes, there was no clumping or heavy goop feeling. And it doesn't smudge, run or wear off until you take it off.
A tube of Fiberwig will run you $22 and can be found online and at Sephora. So for all those blondes out there with wimpy-looking lashes (and you brunettes, too) — stop worrying and wasting money. Try Fiberwig and you’ll be batting your lashes in no time!

Outshines them all

If you're anything like me, you love the look of lip gloss, but hate the sticky feel. I've tried so many different lines, but found that Vincent Longo's Perfect Shine Lip Gloss is the best.
Available in countless colors -- the gloss is the least sticky out there. With a quick blot on a tissue, the heaviness you normally feel with gloss is gone, but the vibrant color stays for hours. It really is a quality product and worth the $22 a tube.
You can order Longo's Perfect Shine Lip Gloss at Sephora or at Vincent Longo.
XOX!

Egg-xactly what you've been needing
I am allergic to everything... perfume, hairspray, scented candles, you name it. So you can imagine my relief when two Hollywood makeup artists invented Beautyblender.
The non-allergenic makeup sponge is not only functional but it's also cute. Pink in color and shaped like an egg, the sponge's curved edges help eliminate streaks while the latex-free material keeps your makeup from being absorbed by the sponge. Less money on foundation means more money for something else. Oh, darn!

What's in your makeup bag?
The April edition of InStyle magazine presents it's "Best Lists" for body, hair, face, eyes, and so on. Filled with products ranging from the shelves of CVS to the counter at Bloomie's, from normal to sensitive skin and from pale to dark complexion, if you DON'T find something to fit your personal needs then I'd be surprised. I learned that I'm keeping up with the Joneses as for as my skin care routine goes and coud always use a new shadow or lip color. So just what is in my makeup bag?
Skin: Aveeno Positively Radiant Facial Cleanser-Is gentle on my flushed skin and removes eye makeup well. Follow-up with: Olay Complete All-Day Moisterizer with SPF 15- It's not greasy like some creams, but it's so light that I have to put on muliptle applications just to moisten my skin. On really dry days, I use Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream with the OLAY for the SPF. Still looking for a happy medium.
Face: I don't like the cakey feeling of foundation on my face(and it usually starts to burn anyway) so I've started using mineral powder from the Arbonne About Face collection(I can give you my rep's info if you're iterested in purchasing). It also has SPF 15. Too cover any under-eye darkness or blemish areas, I use Prescriptives Virtually Fresh Skin Refining Makeup. The dispenser is like a pen tip so you can use as much or as little as you wish.
Eyes: This is the part I'm constantly changing, so I'll show what I'm wearing now. I apply one of two colors from the Maybelline Expert Eye Shadow Quad in Velvet Crush. I prefer the "outer" or the "crease" color for my lids. Then I line my upper lid(actually lining under my upper lash if you can picture it) with Estee Lauder Eye Pencil in 02 Soft Smudge Brown (I actually never knew the price since I got it in a sample kit). Finally, after I curl my lashes, on goes the Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara in Glam Black. Between the brown liner and the black mascara, my blue/green eyes really pop!
Lips: On the occasion that I actually put color on my lips, it's either a Bigelow Co. Bare Mint Lip Gloss from Bath and Body Works or for a real pop of color, I use Wet 'n' Wild Dark Wine (522A) which I randomly picked up at Shop Rite.
To top it all off, I give myself a little spritz of my Michael Kors perfume. My favorite!
So tell me...What's in your makeup bag?

Eye don't like pink, but eye like New York!
If you're looking for a inexpensive mascara that is recommended by makeup artists AND easy to find in the supermarket, the classic pink bottle with the green cap is always at the top of the list. But I have to admit: I'm not a fan. But I have an alternative!
First of all, I'm one of those women who has light and short lashes. My eyes look tired, small and blah and like my American Express card, I don't leave home without mascara. I've tried all sorts of mascaras, all brands, all tube colors, all brush types, you name it. But I finally found a brand that I really like, have done my eyelashes well and is less than $3!
First the disappointment of the classic pink tube [Maybeline Great Lash, $5ish]:
- short wand tip
- too light on the goop
- left eyelashes feeling stiff, brittle and SPIKEY!
- had to reapply multiple times to get full coverage
- wide tip
- moderate goop, just enough coverage
- smooth application, covering entire width of lashes
- leaves lashes soft

Vibrating razors and mascara: Love 'em or hate 'em?
We rarely (if ever) slam on products here. Our philosophy has always been "if we don't like it we don't write about it." But after reading this hilarious post from my new BFF Melanie aka "The Coupon Goddess," I'm seriously reconsidering this stance.
"Vibrating products are the hot thing right now... Clearly men with a wicked sense of humor are designing these products. There is no other explanation.I have to agree with Ms. Melanie up there. I know more than a handful of people who don't like anything near their eyes, much less a vibrating mascara wand; and a vibrating razor? I just don't get it. But these are my first impressions based on the product name. Have I tried them? Nope. But if I do get my hands on some, I will most certainly share the plusses and minuses right here for all of you to see.
Let's start with the vibrating razor. The words vibrating and razor should never be used in a sentence consecutively. Vibrating objects have their merits and razors have their merits, but never the twain should meet. Maybe I'm skeptical, but if you aren't into the Brazilian wax thing and want to take matters into your own hands, a vibrating razor may not be the tool you want to use to get the job done. Call me crazy. It's just my humble opinion.
Moving on to vibrating mascara. WHAT??? Do you know how many times I've almost ripped my lashes out with the eyelash curler? Now they want me to stick a wand with black goo into my eye while it's shaking? Sorry, it's not happening even on my best day. I'm just not that coordinated. Makes you wonder what vibrating item they'll come up with next. Can't wait."
But the question is, have YOU tried it?

Eye Love It
When I got married my friend convinced me to borrow her waterproof mascara. Even though I didn't cry, it was one of the best decisions I made that day - next to marrying my husband, of course.
The mascara she insisted I try wasn't just any ordinary mascara, it was Blinc. ALLURE magazine calls it "the best beauty product you've never heard of." But I'm here to put you in the know. The reason this mascara is different is because unlike traditional mascara, Blinc encases each lash with a tiny tube that won't run, smudge, clump, or flake. And when you're ready to remove your makeup, all you need is a little bit of water and some pressure and the tubes will slide off your lashes effortlessly. Now if only planning the wedding was that easy!
