These Retro Tees are Totally Awesome!
As a child of the 80's, I spent a lot of time in front of the TV. I remember watching the cartoon show "Jem & The Holograms" with my cousin every weekday morning before school. To me, they embodied strong female role models who kicked major ass, and could rock it like nobody's business. So I will gladly wear this t-shirt I recently found at 80's Tees, and annouce to the world that even today I remain a Jem groupie. Check it out and while you're there, take a peek through the zillions of other retro t-shirts and accessories that are sure to transport you back to those sugared cereal days before bosses and balanced checkbooks.

A Martini for Your Wardrobe, Baby?
The martini may be the single coolest image on the planet (at least according to me!). It conjures up memories of the Rat Pack, 1950s lounge music, and swanky piano bars. And now, the martini and all of its inherent coolness can be associated with you too, once you get yourself a Drinky-poo Tee. This girly-style cut tee is 100% cotton, machine washable, and perfect for a night out on the town. I've always included martini iconography in my wardrobe - if you also wish to express your inner hip chick, check it out!

Ladies: Meet THE Little Black Dress
There are certain wardrobe staples that are no-brainers. Take the little black dress, for instance. We all have one, don't we? More than one, probably! Why? Because they're just so darn versatile. Wear it to work with a cute sweater and then grab a sparkly shawl and you're ready for the dinner party. Because it's black it's easy to pair with sweaters, scarves, shoes, bags, anything!
I found this little keeper at Old Navy. Bonus!? Originally priced at a bargain-basement price of $32.50, now they're practically giving them away for $22.50. Hurry up and gets yours, who knows how long they'll last!

Wait, You've Got Some Chocolate on Your Shirt!
Oooh! Two of my favorite things - chocolate and t-shirts! What could be better? A t-shirt DYED in chocolate. Yup, you heard me right, this t-shirt has been dyed naturally in Ghirardelli chocolate.
I spotted this t-shirt and a bunch more in different styles when I was in San Francisco and of course I just had to have one. Now you want one don't you? Go ahead and pick one out!
Now if chocolate's not your thing (bite your tongue!) there are a ton of other specialty-dyed shirts on the site. You can get shirts in the following items as well: Kona Coffee, Pale Ale, Wine, Chile, Money, Hemp, Blue Hawaii, Crater, Hibiscus, Key Lime, Rum, and Sunflower. Now you've got a ton to choose from!

Be warm AND cute
Winters here and in New England are pretty darn cold! On more than one occasion, I find myself layering up with thermal pants and shirts during these cold months. I came across these adorable Meow Thermal Pants that will suit that purpose perfectly! Why settle for boring solid-color thermies when you can be all cute? My sentiments exactly!
Grab the matching Meow Long Sleeve Thermal Top and you've got yourself just about the cutest set of pajamas ever made. And you'll be snug as a bug in a run, to boot!

Jammies make the holiday season more comfortable
I think it goes without saying that we all need a little extra comfort this time of the year. Adding holiday shopping, parties, commitments, and baking on top of our already stuffed lives can leave us feeling a little ragged. It's very important to make sure that we're taking care of ourselves during this busy time. Take time out to treat yourself. My treat? These Pine Cone Hill Retro Swank Flannel Pajamas from Layla Grayce. Sure, they're a little bit of a splurge at $58, but they're adorable, well-made and I'm totally worth it. Aren't you?

Say goodbye to the guesswork!
It’s simple. I took about fifteen minutes this morning and measured myself at my cubicle*. I answered all the questions about material while thinking “I wonder why they want to know this?”. After I plugged in all of my particulars I clicked on “shop for outfits" and voila! Going out, weekend and work outfits tailored to my tastes, style and most important what flatters my body type! Which apparently is an M, why yes, I DO have a rather round bottom!. But not only that, your measurements are cross referenced with the vendors sizing chart and they give you the suggested size.
How does it work? ShapeMatch is a patent-pending system that matches clothing to an individual. By creating a profile which includes measurements, shape and preferences you will find your shape. Once you find your shape, you can shop!
*Although measuring your rise in your cubicle is pretty funny, you may want to do this at home.

Fanfare for the red skirt!
A wool red skirt with its bold and showy outward attitude has almost entirely disappeared from our stores and streets. Now it can be found only in grandma attics or thrift shops.
Before the holidays I tried to find a nice classic wool red skirt. I searched in large department stores and small boutiques with no result. There were plenty of red tops and of course, dresses, but no skirts.
Why red skirt vs. red top? Red makes every woman pretty, and adds a little glamour to her appearance. However, very few women look good in a lot of red right next to the face. With the red skirt, however there is no danger of this.
After two-moths of searching I found one at Ann Taylor in its clearance section for $29.99. It was there along with a few more of the most unwanted pieces. I imagined a sign on it:
'Warm, pretty, will make a devoted companion to an elegant woman. Suggested donations $29.00"
I adopted it. I love it.

Mr. Pickles helps to end scurvy
Yes, I'm 31. Yes, I have an odd sense of humor.
Now that that's over with, today I'm bringing you Mr. Pickles. Cute site, right? Take a closer look at the T-shirts and Cuddlers. I think they are just adorable! Especially the "Scurvy* Friends" lemon/lime design. Text reads "SCURVY FRIENDS - Friends Don't Let Friends Get Scurvy."
I mean come on, there is no way I could be in a bad mood wearing this t-shirt. Cute t-shirts are an easy way to lighten up and have some fun!
*Scurvy, also called vitamin C deficiency. It is caused by a dietary lack of vitamin C (ascorbic acid), a nutrient found in many fresh fruits and vegetables, particularly the citrus fruits. Ascorbic acid is important in the formation of collagen (an element of normal tissues), and any deficiency interferes with normal tissue synthesis.

Anyway. I'm going to wear this under my work outfit fo-sho. Hotness I tell you, HOTNESS!
Note! Bust.com is a super fun site (aka may not be work safe)

A Plethora of Tees!
T-Shirts? I love tees! Especially ones with various fun/cute logos. On a recent mall trip I ventured into a shop that I always thought was just for the younger crowd. But, when I entered the store I discovered shoppers of all ages, I totally fit right in.
I immediately noticed a huge assortment of logo tees on the wall that was amazing! I could have easily bought ten. Oh, that one would be good for this person, chuckle, chuckle! And definitely this one would be perfect for you-know-who, you get the point! The shop? Delia's!
The best part? There is a clearance section on their website with t-shirts starting at $5.99. Even their regular priced tees are buy one and get the second one half price! Now who do you think will like this one? This one is my favorite!

Why Not Advertise Yourself?
At T-Lists it's all about what you like! It's about being up front, to the point, and here I am! T-shirt meets personal touch!
Among the styles of t-shirts this particular one intrigued me! Type in your interests and that's it, they do the rest of the work and send you your very own personalized Tee! How original! Here's how mine would read: Will travel now, Animal Lover, Lets shop, I love maps, Need lots of sunlight, A day at the beach. There's even a likes/dislikes theme...now that could get naughty! ;)

"Will f*ck for shoes"
You know some days I don't feel like playing the bad girl and just want to say what's on my mind. But the thing is, sometimes I've just got to be good. That's why I fell in love with Lochers tops: they let you say all the nasty stuff that's going on in your mind, but it's camouflaged in delicate embroidery on soft cottony-romantic styles.
Many thanks to reader Monika for sending us the link!

This tank top, along with the others featured at Girlie Pants definitely made me chuckle! Funny expressions adorn these tanks and undies making them an undeniably great gift! Sometimes you just need to loosen up and laugh! I guarantee these will do the trick.
Their slogan? "Clean undies for dirty girls."

Dress for a Cause for Sara Campbell
On Monday night I attended my first fashion show, ever. I know, I know, it's hard to believe, but it's true.
It was an amazing experience. Ms. Magno and I met up at The Boston Harbor Hotel to attend the Dress for a Cause fashion show, hosted by and featuring clothing by Sara Campbell.
I'm glad I was able to attend this as my first fashion show, not only because of the absolutely wonderful clothing by Sara Campbell, but for the cause we were all there supporting - Breast Cancer. So many of us have been touched by the disease - whether we ourselves have been diagnosed, or a family or friend. I, too, have been touched by it personally - my grandmother is a breast cancer survivor - and it's a cause I hold dear to my heart.
What made the even more special, were the models - many of them cancer survivors or closely involved in the cure for cancer. There was not a dry eye in the house! Go ladies!
Proceeds from the show and 100% of the profits of a handful of special products will go to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. In addition, 10% of all sales during the month of October (Breast Cancer Awareness Month) at Sara Campbell will go to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and customers also receive 10% off anything pink!
If you're in the area, stop by the Sara Campbell store in Boston's South End. If not, take a look at the items for sale on the Sara Campbell web site. After seeing all the wonderful clothes, I'd say that Sara Campbell clothes were cheerful, bright, and stunning! I definitely want one of every item I saw. But don't trust me. Take a look for yourself:

Ladies Start Your Engines (NASCAR clothes...for girls!!!)
It is no secret that nearly half (I believe current figures are somewhere around 40% or so) of all NASCAR fans are female - so chances are you have a female NASCAR fan somewhere on your list! Unfortunately most NASCAR gear found at your local stores are - let's face it - manly. Well have I found the site for you!! Track Couture is the brain child of Lisa Heros- who were disappointed at the selection of NASCAR apparel available to women. She started by making shirts for her friend and thus a clothing line was born.
Being a NASCAR fan myself I LOVE the Track Couture clothing lines. I can support my favorite drive (Tony Stewart) in clothing that is made for a woman (girly and pretty). The feature driver specific clothing (for instance Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards) as well as general race inspired designs. There is also clothing for young girls and infants (I will soon be picking up the I Am Tired onesie and matching bib for my nephew due in March).
They have lots more items available for that girly-girl NASCAR lover in your family (um family- that would be me!).

T-shirt envy
When I think of T-shirts, I usually think of something I’d wear with sweats while curled up reading a book on a Sunday night. But I recently purchased one online that I’m proud to wear out and about. The Electric Wire Pink and Silver tee is not only comfy, but stylish, too.
I work from home, so there isn’t too much need for business attire, but I do go to meetings and need to look presentable. This shirt fits slim, but not tight, and the cut is flattering. Paired with a black cardigan and jeans, I’m set to face the world. What caught my eye was the intricate image on the front. Achieved through black and silver stitching, the front of the shirt depicts birds on a wire. The look is unique and versatile. I may never think about T-shirts the same way again.

Take your girls to Bali!
My girls are unique. Don't we all say that? All girls are not created equal and I bet we all run into many of the same issues in our quest for the perfect bra.
My issue? The girls don't conform well to most of the popular full coverage, somewhat padded bras, so I'm usually stuck with something completely unpadded that conforms to the girl's shapes. The only problem? Not enough nip coverage.
I recently discovered the Bali Concealer bra that is made with concealer petals that eliminate this problem. It's still unpadded, yet it provides full coverage and fits the girls unlike any other bra I've used. It's just what I've been looking for!
Thanks Bali!
Hurry on over to your favorite departments stores soon - when you buy a Bali Concealer bra you will receive an instantly redeemable free Estée Lauder Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick. This offer is available at select Estée Lauder counters in department stores nationwide while supplies last.

My boy knows me well...
He knows I'm a sucker for roses on Valentine's Day, so he had some sent to me. He knows I love chocolate, but that I shouldn't indulge too much, so he gave me two Godiva truffles.
He knows I love yellow and polka dots and everything cute so he braved Victoria's Secret and presented me with the most adorable little slip I ever did see!
I'm so lucky that my boy knows me!
PS - While checking out the slip at Vickie's I also came across this lovely little number. That's certainly going on my wish list!

Plus-sized girls must shop, too!
Hey ladies,
Many apologies for the radio silence. I'm just back from an extended weekend away in fabulous NYC. Lots of shopping - mostly chocolate! Here's a review from my cousin Kerry:
Plus-sized girls must shop, too! But with the lack of options in the mall, I've recently turned to finding fashion online. Enter the trench dress from IGIGI.Is there an item you'd like to review here at A Girl Must Shop? Just contact us and we'll post it for you!
After some hemming and hawing (it's a little pricey at $139.00), I finally just bought it. And I'm glad I did...it's fabulous!
The material, a polyblend, is soft and comfortable, but the shape looks sharp and structured. It's great for the office or even a more dressy occasion and its classic style will never go out of style!
The sizing charts on Igigi helped me choose a dress that fit me perfectly, shipping was quick, and with a little help from Google, I found a coupon code that saved me 20% on my order! I'll definitely order from IGIGI again!

Confessions from a new Dress-a-holic
Lately, I've become obsessed with dresses. I'm usually the jeans and tee type and, lucky for me, my company has a very relaxed dress code (seriously, I came to work in PJ's once!). But, I am tired of feeling frumpy and found a bunch of new online stores catering to me -- a plus-sized girl looking to feel fabulous!
My most recent find is b&lu -- this online boutique is loaded with fuller figure friendly frocks at bank account friendly prices. Today, I'm wearing this dress. It's super light weight (perfect for the summer), comfy (!!!) and has tons of cute details.
I love that the skirt flares out from the waist which hides my stomach and enhances my chest. The compliments have been rolling in from my co-workers which makes me a happy girl. I'd only be happier if it were Friday!

Take advantage of the virtual sale rack...
Pssst! There are some new sale items at b & lu!
Of course, I had to indulge (though, are you *really* indulging when you get a great deal?) I bought the Odetta dress and it's my new favorite item in the closet. It's 100% cotton, sunny yellow, retro, and a perfect a-line shape that flatters the best parts of my body. I love that it's a dress that's cute and has sleeves! No special bras needed here! At $34 it's a steal.
Check out the Francine skirt, too! For $15 I couldn't resist! The fabric is sooo soft -- and the skirt is fully lined which always makes the quality feel top-notch.
With so many great deals and stylish clothes, b & lu is quickly becoming one of my favorite plus-sized boutiques!

Remembering back in the day
Dudes, I just spent waaaaay too much time surfing for shirts at 80sTees.com. That place is like Target - it sucks you in and won't let you out without spending at least $60 because the STUFF IS SO DAMN GOOD.
And you know, it transports me back in the day. Before conference calls, reports, and responnnnnsibility.

These clothes rock
From the moment you hit the site, you realize you aren't in Kansas anymore -- you're in DuvNic Industries.
DuvNic Industries is an Encino,CA-based specialty clothier for the girl looking to push the boundaries and bring a little piece of L.A. into her wardrobe. Think of it as vintage L.A. chic. DuvNic creations are like nothing you will find at the local mall. DuvNic currently has over 30 designs with over 25 more on the way. And these designs are not your wannabe-cool graphics. The designs, all created by DuvNics Todd Maidy, are intricate, unusual and a little bit on the dark side.
When you slip on a DuvNic Industries creation, you are ready to hit the club, rock out at a concert or simply hang with friends (although, you'll have the coolest shirt!). DuvNic fits are flattering; require almost no ironing and the fabrics are so comfortable. They feel as if they have been through the wash a million times, without looking like they have. I have the Burnout Crest tank, the DuvNic Couture T and the Scoop Neck Skull long-sleeve T. I found the Burnout Crest fabric the most interesting. It has the most unusual treatment. Throughout the fabric there are sections that look worn -- to the point one can see skin -- like the favorite shirt you simply can't part with. Yet, the tank doesn't look old or tattered.
The construction on DuvNic Industries apparel is solid. You won't find threads hanging off or fabric imperfections (unless they are supposed to be there). And you can't shrink these shirts -- I tried.
DuvNic.com has all the styles you're looking for, including tops and bottoms. And their clothes aren't just for women. Looking for a hot shirt for your boyfriend -- DuvNic.com has great styles for men, too.

Make any top work-safe with "Chickies"
OK. So I have this problem. I'm petite, which means that not only do I have a devil of a time finding the right size pants, but nearly every shirt with an open neckline falls a little too low.

All I want for Christmas is...
Just because you can't be somewhere warm this holiday season doesn't
mean you can't think warm. And what says blue skies and hot sand better
than a beach cover-up?
The Huvafen Fushi resort in the Maldives has
partnered with Swarovski and Australian designer Camilla Franks to give all their guests on Christmas morning
a limited-edition kaftan that they can customize with crystals. But for
us shivering souls who are only dreaming about our next tropical vaca,
the resort will be selling the do-it-yourself kits on their website
after Christmas.
Now when we picture ourselves laying under towering
palm trees, we'll know exactly what we'll be wearing!

A wearable Yoga experience
![]()
Have you ever had a divine clothing experience? Yeah, me neither until I slipped on a pair of Eggplant Capris from Yoga Threads. The head-to-toe sensation was complete with my Black Raceback top. They felt like Victoria Secret's Ipex underwear but for your legs. Does that make sense? In other words, so smooth and soft it was as if I was wearing nothing.
Now I understand why there are Yoga pants and then there are regular workout pants. When you're moving from Downward Dog to Warrior 1, the last thing you want is some heavy hanging track pant and billowy t-shirt. You need to be able to move freely yet allow for your body to breathe. That was Kelley's (the owner) mission when starting the company in 2005 and that's why you need to get your own Yoga Threads. The blend of 90% Meryl/ Nylon and 10% Spandex makes their products comfortable and breathable.
Yoga Threads prices range from $44 to $52 and are available in-stores across the US or online. And every year, Kelley (the owner) and her husband donate a portion of their proceeds to charity.

The sock and cleavage alternative
Different. But very clever. Those were my first thoughts after stumbling upon these "secret stash" money bracelets on Etsy.com
First I thought that this would be great for teenagers or tweens who want to carry money for school but don't want to worry about a purse or bulky wallet.
Or when you're on a bike ride into town and need money for lunch or to shop.
The Colonia NJ designer offers these $15 cuffs in a variety of colors and 3 sizes-small, medium and large. And they're not just limited to money: vitamins, hotel keys, house keys, coupons, credit cards, etc.
My final verdict: these are cute, but I can't decide which one I'd want! But I have an 8 year old niece who would love the kid designs!

Jeans by any other name are not the same
Economic times are tough. So when I decided to take the plunge and purchase a pair of higher-end jeans, I was a bit uncertain if I could justify the cost. After 10 years of only wearing Gap jeans, I thought maybe I should stick with what I know and could easily afford. Really...can there be THAT big of a difference between $70 jeans and $145 jeans? Well ladies...there is, thanks to Joe's Jeans.
Joe's Jeans are not only shape-enhancing, but the quality stands out. These are not jeans you will have to wash after each wear in order to get them back to their original shape. There is almost no stretching or color fade. And they are so soft.
I purchased the curvy Honey style and truly have never had a pair of jeans fit me so well. The first time I put them on, it felt like they were made just for me.
Joe's has been steadily making a name for itself since 2000, and has been featured in Glamour, Cosmo, Lucky and more.
Joe's Jeans can be purchased online at JoesJeans.com. You can also find them at department store websites such as Neiman Marcus, Saks and Macy's.

Boyfriend not required [or included]
It's no trade secret that the "boyfriend" sweater is all the rage in the 13-49 female demographic and that stripes are a haute pattern of choice. But the fact that the fashion industry realized that women would rather wear their husband/boyfriend's sweater or sweatshirts and and were able to convert that into a fashionable product is genius!
No significant other is necessary for this sweater that:
- maintains the roominess of a real man's sweater, but still looks feminine,
- makes horizontal stripes look flattering,
- and can be dressed down, worn open, paired with a graphic t-shirt or dressed up with a skinny belt*
I found my boyfriend sweater at Marshall's, but you can get them at most apparel stores. The sweater featured here is from Old Navy and is on sale for only $25.00.

Trend Alert: Armwarmers
So it's a Thursday night and I'm waiting for Burn Notice to start. With nothing really to watch in the meantime, I start scanning my OnDemand menu and stumble upon Video Fashion Daily's coverage of New York Fashion Week. And I was just in time to catch one of my favorite designers: Michael Kors. It seems that not only are leather booties the go-to runway shoe, but neon is making a comeback and so are armwarmers. Fingerless armwarmers (or really long fingerless gloves).
Worn under a winter jacket or trench coat, armwarmers just look like another pair of gloves. But worn with a short sleeved top or dress, now they are kind of rock-and-roll. And I like it! I'm always looking for something a little edgy but not over-the-top. However, if you are someone who likes to stand out, get yourself a pair of striped or checkered gloves.
You can find these trendsetters anywhere gloves are sold. I can bet that if they're showing up on the runways, they'll be dangling from accessory trees at Macys, Bloomies and Nordstrom's shortly (unless they already are and I'm totally behind the 8-ball on this one). You can also find the more budget friendly versions at Etsy or Threddies.com.

Look Pretty for Prom
It's prom season everyone!
Though I'm glad to be out of that stage for at least another 15 years, it's still fun to see what the IT dress for the year is. I enjoy scoping out trends and fashion ideas and feel pretty confident about what I find. My Prom Pick for 2009 is a departure from the long, slinky gown and the tight, revealing dress. Instead, I suggest a 50s inspired Pretty Party Dress. The inspiration: Sara Bareilles in Louisa Beccaria at the 2008 Grammys.
With the full skirt and sleeveless bodice, this classic party dress is fun and flirty but conservative and tasteful. Bareilles added a burst of color with the red sash and shoes showing that it's possible to add your own creative flair.
The bridal gown designers have taken advantage of the party dress offering bright colors, full skirts and some with pockets! The Dessy Group sells a variety of bridesmaid dresses that are always a favorite for Prom. Collections like Lela Rose and After Six include tea-length and short dresses in a ton of colors. And, like Bareilles, you can add a sash and matching shoes for something different!
To find a Dessy Group retailer near you, click here
If you want to add some real POOF to your dress, add a crinoline skirt underneath!

Hot Pick for Summer 2009: Tie Dye Dresses
In fashion, everything old is new again
and it seems like the 80s wave is continuing this summer with the
hottest trends including Tie Dye, Ruffles, Colored Jeans and Fringed Bags.
A few weeks ago, I stopped into my favorite Long Beach Island, NJ clothing store, Tula the Boutique,
to get some of their recommendations for hot fashions for the sumer. Store manager, Brooke Mesanko,
who is also 4-months pregnant was wearing a long Tie-Dye maxi tube
dress confirming the trend which also doubled for fun maternity
fashion! Along the walls of this very hip boutique were some rocker
chic styles and haute separates.
Sales
associate, Dana Muerater, pulled out 2 of their best selling dresses:
more Tie-Dye! The first one made me think of Nicole Richie: A Long, gray Vintage Havana Tie-Dye dress(above)
with rope straps and matching fabric tassel in the back that draped
down from the neck-line. Very sexy! The second, shorter dress(right)
donned vibrant hues of pink, blue and purple and continued the roping
detail on the straps. Two other popular brands, which make great summer
pieces, are Sky and MM Couture.
I
had no doubt that Mesanko and Muerater would confirm the Tie-Dye trend
since I had seen it popping up everywhere from wraps to dresses. Just be careful how you accessorize with Tie-Dye,
because usually the print is enough. With the Vintage Havana dress, for
example, I would stack some silver bangles or throw on an arm cuff.
Stick to ball, stud or small hoop earrings. For additional Tie-Dye
styles or dress, the easiest place to find an assortment of brands,
prices and colors is to search at TheFind.com.
Mrs Mo's Favorites: Christopher Deane (left) and Nicole Miller (right)

Tula the Boutique has 2 NJ locations:

It's in the Jeans
As someone with two sisters, I have become very familiar with sharing clothes. Lately my mom has been the recipient of some of my hand-me-downs. And while she loves my designer jeans, she hates that they all leave her with a muffin top and her underwear hanging out. Thankfully I found out about Not Your Daughter's Jeans before Glamour posted her image on their Don't page.
Not Your Daughter's Jeans is designed for women of every size, and features tummy tuck technology that smooths your stomach area. The line comes in a ton of different styles and has a vast number of celeb followers. Not surprising when you learn the jeans make women appear a size smaller. Now my mom's biggest problem is trying to convince people that body actually gave birth to three kids.
