Not For Sale. The shoes that will make you walk
Ladies, this is a time to take a short break from shopping. A treasure is awaiting you at the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston! A one-of-a-kind shoe exhibit "Walk This Way," will take you from ancient Egyptian and Nubian sandals to contemporary wedges with rococo carved heels from MIU MIU's most recent collection. But you’ve got to really walk to see all of them. You see, they are cleverly placed throughout the MFA's galleries to illustrate their relationship to other works of art – paintings, furniture, etc.
I went there on the first day, and had a blast. A lot of people kept asking: “Where is that shoe collection?’ and were sent running all over the museum. It looked like Easter egg hunt there. It was not easy to find them. My trip turned out into two-hour marathon … but it was fascinating, and think of all the ice cream and pastries you can eat afterwards, and not feel guilty! If you don’t do marathon – no problem, take it easy. The exhibit runs through March 23, 2008. Plenty of time – and plenty of ice cream ahead!

Irresistable
Irresistible - Think Pink Bath Bomb from the Lush. Too pretty to use, but you must try it. When in the water, it releases a slightly sweet vanilla candy smell with a touch of lavender, and makes your skin feel soft and silky.
Also, can't beat the price - $5.55 will not strain your budget but will give you a lot of pleasure.

A Medley of Color
Ladies, I just found a new little treasure – a beautiful four-strand 17" leather choker with the gold plated or sterling silver clasps clasp closure.
You can wear it with the pendants or just like that - as a choker-necklace. I personally prefer it without pendant. It is beautiful as is and easy on the wallet at a sweet $20.
The girl who makes it, her name is Lana Barakat, (who spent some time in our home town of Boston in her college years) also makes a ton of other cool jewelry. You can check it out at Lazuli Jewelry.com

Martha's Vineyard Glassworks
Spring is already here. Think summer! A cool ocean breeze, warm sun, yellow dunes - all captured in the hand-blown glass works of Martha's Vineyard artists. I know about it because my son's friend Harrison Neel started working there last fall after completing his study in Sweden. Martha's Vineyard Glassworks. Check it out on your next visit to Vineyard.

Perfume that's sweet AND creamy? Sign me up!
Aquolina's Pink Sugar Creamy Perfume has distinctive, yummy scent of sugar, fresh blossoms, spices, and cotton candy. It's so sweet, in fact, that if I didn't already know it was perfume, I would have had to taste it. I apply a soft massage of the creamy perfume on my neck, wrists and just about any other area of the body. The best part of this yummy fragrance is its packaging: it comes in a compact, so it is really easy to carry, and it fits even in a small purse. Ladies, this is one hot number and so far, it's only available on-line.

Fanfare for the red skirt!
A wool red skirt with its bold and showy outward attitude has almost entirely disappeared from our stores and streets. Now it can be found only in grandma attics or thrift shops.
Before the holidays I tried to find a nice classic wool red skirt. I searched in large department stores and small boutiques with no result. There were plenty of red tops and of course, dresses, but no skirts.
Why red skirt vs. red top? Red makes every woman pretty, and adds a little glamour to her appearance. However, very few women look good in a lot of red right next to the face. With the red skirt, however there is no danger of this.
After two-moths of searching I found one at Ann Taylor in its clearance section for $29.99. It was there along with a few more of the most unwanted pieces. I imagined a sign on it:
'Warm, pretty, will make a devoted companion to an elegant woman. Suggested donations $29.00"
I adopted it. I love it.

You too can be a runway star!
I recently attended a must-see exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Fashion Show: Paris Collections 2006 is absolutely fabulous - if you're in the Boston area between now and March 18, I definitely recommend checking it out! The whole show is done as a multimedia presentation, with the REAL!!! runway garments from the Fall 2006-Winter 2007 collections from the best world fashion designers, and videos of the runways projected on the walls.
You can be sure, I did not miss an opportunity to shop there. No, no, no, not the haute couture garments – I don’t have that type of funds. I bought a little book. A beautiful book in turquoise dust jacket, with the title written in a black calligraphy script: Genevieve Antoine Driaux, A guide to Elegance. For every woman who wants to be well and properly dressed on all occasions. I noticed this book about 3-4 years ago at the bookstore, did not buy it then, and since then I was looking for it everywhere, until I found it at the MFA exhibit shop. This is a MUST HAVE book for every woman. It has tons of useful stuff, like matching colors, fabrics, basic outfits, etc… and ways to save money.
