Hallie says, "I love my lady b!"

Lexie Barnes Lady B Craft Tote Loyal reader Hallie J loves her lady b by Lexie Barnes so much, she had to tell us about it:

"I love my lady b!  I got mine for Christmas, but I might need another one in one of the new prints (they aren't available until February).  I use it as a knitting bag and it is awesome.  It has room for my knitting and has so many pockets for tools and my personal stuff that I don't even need to carry a purse anymore.  I just put everything in my lady b and I'm off.  Just had to share.  I love this bag!!"

Thanks for sharing, Hallie! I love the designs! Be sure to check out the sale page for discounts up to 50% off past fabric designs.

Scrub up with 100% Pure

100 % Pure Cherry_honey_facial polish.jpg
Winter has arrived, and this means most of the moisture in my skin has dissipated, leaving my face pale and lackluster. To get my glow back I decided I needed to exfoliate. This may seem obvious, but I’m somewhat dubious of facial scrubs due to my sensitive skin.

Even those that claim to be gentle can (and have) rubbed my face raw. But a recent purchase of 100 % Pure Cherry-Honey Facial Polish has done wonders to improve my opinion – and my skin. Skin is polished with jojoba beads, which are perfectly rounded so they don’t scratch or irritate your skin.

The product comes in a tub filled with two distinct layers. Simply grab a handful, making sure to get some from both layers, and massage gently onto damp skin. The rounded beads, plus honey and crushed berries combine into paste that works to slough away dead skin.

It leaves my skin super-soft and not at all red or irritated. I use it once a week, but those without sensitive skin could use it more often. I am also loving this product because it’s made sans-chemicals, with all-natural ingredients. Happy scrubbing!

Urban Botanics lets U.B. You!

sfcgift.jpgUrban Botanic offers a line of custom fragrancing products; you use their pure perfume oils to blend a one-of-a-kind fragrance to add to their unscented lotion, shower gel, bubble bath, parfum spray or home fragrance.  They also offer six U.B You Signature Fragrance Collections (Floral, Fruity, Spicy, Herbal, Leafy, Woodsy) which include everything you need to get started creating custom fragrances at home.

I tried this myself; you simply mix and match the six oils that come with the collection you chose until you're happy with the scent and then add it to the unscented lotion, spray and shower gel which also comes with the collection!  It's fun and easy :-)

They even have a site where you can take a Personality Test to see what fragrance suits you best!

Give them a try...I know you'll enjoy this!

The Squirrel and the Hedgehog by Mod Cloth: A delightful story

Squirrel and hedgehog tote If you're going to go green, you might as well go cute while you're at it. Am I right ladies?  Fellow A Girl Must Shop-er Janet (who knows all about my obsessions with all things squirrelly)  sent me the link to this squirrel and hedgehog tote by Mod Cloth and I simply must have.

I can certainly justify the purchase since it will help with my resolution to go green this year. I can see it now - The squirrel, the hedgehog and me, living in peaceful harmony.

Must Read - "Helping Me Help Myself" by Beth Lisick

21vkQpDkMWL._AA_SL160_.jpgI haven't written down any resolutions this year, but I do have a few rolling around in my head that I'm working on. I just feel like if I write them down, I'll fail. While treating myself to my Saturday morning People fix (my guilty pleasure!) this weekend, I discovered Helping Me Help Myself by Beth Lisick. In her book, Beth recounts her year committed to her resolutions - get organized, be a better mom, exercise more and strengthen her relationship with her husband.

The thing is - Beth has decided to explore the world of self-help, a world that she's poked fun of her entire life, does not take seriously, and is vehemently against. Over the year she works with 10 of the top self help gurus (She "Cruises to Lost with Richard Simmons who, according to Beth, must have kissed more women in his lifetime than Gene Simmons) and begins to see the reason why they are indeed 10 of the top self help gurus (except John Gray who believes women should still be ready by the door in a dress and heels holding a martini for her husband who has come home from a long day at the office!).

The book is filled with Beth's own brilliant style of quirky humor as she pokes fun at herself and the 10 gurus. It's a style I enjoy from the beginning - finding myself thinking of Beth as a close friend that I travel to odd places with to attend seminars on Christian Marriage, then tossing back a couple of martinis while we laugh over it. The only downer - Beth doesn't like to shop!  For shame!

My summary: It's a fabulous, funny book that will inspire you to keep to your resolutions while tongue is firmly planted in cheek.

T-shirt envy

When I think of T-shirts, I usually think of something I’d wear with sweats while curled up reading a book on a Sunday night. But I recently purchased one online that I’m proud to wear out and about. The Electric Wire Pink and Silver tee is not only comfy, but stylish, too.

I work from home, so there isn’t too much need for business attire, but I do go to meetings and need to look presentable. This shirt fits slim, but not tight, and the cut is flattering. Paired with a black cardigan and jeans, I’m set to face the world. What caught my eye was the intricate image on the front. Achieved through black and silver stitching, the front of the shirt depicts birds on a wire. The look is unique and versatile. I may never think about T-shirts the same way again.

Flowers for your eyes by Laura Mercier

Laura Mercier's Eye Colour Quad in Wild Violet.png
"Oh how pretty!"

That is the first thing I said when I spotted Laura Mercier Eye Colour Quadicon.  Not only are the four shades of lilac lovely, but the floral design stamped into the colors is a nice, ladylike touch.  The colors can be worn alone or, as suggested in the February issue of InStyle magazine, blended together for a smokey eye.

If you are like me, desperately waiting for Spring, this tiny compact can work wonders to cure those Winter blues.  The compact comes in Wild Violet, a mix of Black-violet, eggplant, pink-mauve, ivory-pearlor Shy Violet, a mix of Deep-eggplant, shimmery-maroon, mauve, pale-ivory-pink.

Head on over to Nordstrom and check it out. It's the perfect time to buy since you'll receive free deluxe samples & cosmetics bag with any $100 beauty purchase and $5 Shipping. Don't forget the big sale going on - save 33% or more on apparel, shoes & more for the whole family.

Ask for Love Letters for Valentine's Day by Simply Charmed

Simply Charmed - Love LettersI think it's the simplicity of this Love Letters necklace by Simply Charmed that attracts me. The sparkly diamond-cut ball chain and the hand stamped sterling letter charms are designed to look classy - just like you and me.

What letters would I choose? Hmm, I might wear a single "M" or an "M" and "J" for me and my fiance. Or if I'm feeling silly I could even get "B" and "B" for my cats Belle & Buddy. I might even spell out the word "HOPE" or "LOVE".

But my favorite use of this necklace is a mother's necklace. Grab your children's initials or you and your children's - it's up to you. What a perfect idea for a Valentine's gift. Just send your favorite V-day gift-giver the URL and specific instructions (We all know how men can be!).

Be sure to check out Simply Charmed for more Love Letters styles and photo jewelry. Don't you just love handmade?

Wake up with white tea - for your face - by Bod

Bod white-tea-cleansing-gel.jpg

As much as I would like to be, I am not a morning person. It takes me a while to get going in the morning, so I need as much help as I can find to jump-start my day. I have recently found a small pick-me-up in the form of Bod White Tea Cleansing Gel.

Along with my can't-miss-it cup of coffee, the subtle citrus scent of this gentle cleanser always seems to start me off on the right foot. Above and beyond the energizing scent, I love the fact my face feels really clean after I use it, without the drying effects of other cleansers. It rinses clean away, which is one of my top criteria for a good cleanser. If it seems to take a long time to rinse it all off, or leaves a residue, I'm not a fan. This product though, lathers nicely, feels great on my skin and rinses off easily. Plus a little goes a long way, which is always a bonus.

My morning coffee now has a partner in crime to help motivate me out of bed in the morning!

Hotel Chocolat Rocky Road Slab

Hotel Chocolat Rocky Road Chocolate Slab

I had to include a picture that shows the ginormous size of the Rocky Road slab by Hotel Chocolat I knew it would be big, but I didn't under stand quite how big it was until I saw it for myself. There's no way in hell I could eat this myself unless given approximately 3 months, 5 days, 3 hours and 22 minutes.

Instead, I cracked it out at our small New Year's Eve party and it was a huge hit - especially for my soon-to-be brother-in-law who is a fellow chocolate connoisseur. And by "cracked it out" I mean that I removed it from the refrigerator and purposefully dropped it on the floor with a loud crack. Then again. Then I served the giant slab on a cutting board, preserving it's shape to much oohs and ahhhs from the crowd!

"But how did it taste," you ask? Well, let's just say that many, many more slabs in my future.

Waterloo presents Amelie!

Waterloo: Amelie T-Shirt

If asked to choose my favorite movie, I don't even have to think about it. It's Amelie. If they've seen it, most people love it; but if they haven't I tell them to stop whatever they're doing and go see it. Now. Don't worry about the subtitles, because if you're like me you'll forget you're reading them two minutes into the movie because you're so entranced by Amelie.

I fancy myself a bit of an Amelie. Not because she's a loner and uber shy (not me at ALL) but because she enjoys making people happy. And she's charming ;)

Anyway, I came across this Amelie t-shirt at Waterloo and I had to share. If you're an Amelie fan like me, you'll want to snag it for yourself right now.

Head on over and pick one up or check out their other awesome tees - they've been kind enough to give A Girl Must Shop readers an additional 10% off with coupon code agirlmustshop.

PS - Janet - there's even a Led Zeppelin one!

Avacado and Bananas are good food for your skin, too!

Juara Avocado Banana Moisture Mask 4 ozIf it happens to be winter where you live, and that winter happens to be cold, then you probably know the havoc cold temperatures and even colder winds can wreak on your skin. And if winter wherever you are doesn't involve snow and cold, let me just say I am jealous! But all petty jealousies aside, I am here to gush about a face mask I've been using to combat the drying effects of winter on my skin.

Upon waking up with a rather ruddy, flaky complexion after spending most of the day outdoors, I knew it was time for a skin-saving SOS. For me, that SOS is Juara's Avacado Banana Moisture Mask. I know it sounds more like something you might eat, but trust me, avacados and bananas are also great food for your skin.

The unscented mask is rich and smooth. I usually use this once a week, spread a generous layer all over my face (save for the eyes and mouth), relax for 15 minutes, then gently rinse off using a face cloth and warm water. Afterwards my skin is soft, smooth and feeling great. I find once a week is perfect but the box says twice a week is fine. I probably won't be using this in the summer, when my skin stays fairly hydraded on its own, but in the winter I need (and appreciate) the extra moisture-boost this mask offers. Here's to food for you - and your face!

bōbē bath mousse - you MUST try it!

Bobe Bath Essentials :: Bath MousseThis amazingly soft bath mousse from bōbē (pronounced “beau-bee”) is just like heaven. I tried it out recently and felt like I was washing my skin with fluffy soft clouds.

The best things about it?

  1. The scent was so good I was tempted to take a bite. I tried Warm Banana Bread and it immediately inspired me to bake up a loaf. (Not crazy about banana bread? No problem, bōbē has a ton of similarly amazing scents available.)
  2. The soft and creamy consistency felt so smooth and comforting and left my skin soft and moisturized.
  3. A little goes a long way - I used a tablespoon or two on my pouf and it was more than enough to clean my body (and then some!).
  4. It makes a great shaving cream!
I was pleased to note that all of bōbē products are made fresh at the time the customer places an order, and always made in small batches using few, simple ingredients. They also believe strongly in giving back and supporting the community. Each month, 5% of bōbē retail sales are given to a different charity

Be sure to check out the wide varies of body products all available in the same amazing scents and they're all very reasonably priced.

All eyes on Lancôme

I'm loving Lancôme lately. Seems like everything that I try is a winner!

Like many of you, my search the perfect mascara that lengthens and separates my lashes is never-ending. But I may have I've found a winner.

080127-lancomecurve.pngLancôme's Courbe Virtuôse Divine Lasting Curves Mascara is brilliant! It comes in this curvy tube that matches the shape of the brush which ensures that every single lash receives the perfect amount of mascara without clumping together (I don't know about you but I have major clump issues!) and gives my unruly lashes the previously unattainable perfect curve.

080127-lancomeliner.pngNow Lancôme's Color Design Definitely and Brightening Eye Pencil Duo had me at brightening. I chose a dark color for smokey-eyed nights out. It was amazingly smooth and had just the right amount of smudgeness for a smokin'  lookin. The sparkle side added just the right amount of sparkle to the black without overpowering.

Armani Code for Women by Giorgio Armani is one fragrance every woman should have in her sensual arsenal. It rates right up there with red lipstick, stiletto heels and black lace lingerie. Even the bottle exudes sensuality with its sleek shape, floral design and smoky lavender and black hue.

The sexy, feminine scent is comprised of notes of Blood Orange, Ginger, Pear Sorbet, Honey, Vanilla, Lavender and Jasmine.

Ginger Souffle - A Soothing Treat by Origins

gingerrush.jpgWith my dry skin getting even worse in the cold winter months, I am always on the lookout for something soothing to help.  Because my hands tend to crack when dry, this pretty much eliminates being able to use anything with any fragrance in it because that usually just ends up irritating my hands and turning them bright red.

However, I happened upon a sample of Origins Ginger Souffle Whipped Body Cream.  I expected it to burn and turn my hands red but I tried the little sample anyway.  Well not only did it not burn, but my hands felt so silky smooth after using it that I logged right into Origins.com and ordered some.  Plus, I love having something scented and the mix of ginger, lemon, line and bergamot (which I don't usually like) really perks me up.

Origins.com is currently offering free shipping on all orders of $75.00 or more. So while you are picking up some of the Ginger Souffle, can I also suggest some Salt Sud's Foaming body wash? It has a fresh minty scent perks me up on those mornings when I just can't seem to get going.

Fruity facial toner wakes up your face

Pangea Organics facial toner

I love the facial toners that come in spray bottles, because I feel you can use them any time of day, many times a day, to refresh and wake up your skin. This is probably why I go through the stuff like it's water! My latest purchase, which I love, is Pangea Organics Italian Green Mandarin with Sweet Lime Facial Toner. They have several other varieties, depending on your skin type,  but this one is designed to refresh tired skin and calm inflammation.

It has a slightly sweet, citrus scent so spraying it not only perks up my skin, but me, too. Hmm...maybe that's why I'm always spraying it. Seriously, I carry this stuff in my purse. I find it's a good hydrator, and refreshes my make-up after a long day. I also use it as my post-wash, pre-moisturizer step.

This is the first time I've tried a Pangea Organics product, and I might have to check out the rest of their line. Ingredients are chemical and preservative-free, and you can even plant the box! I have yet to try (there's snow on the ground where I live) but the instructions just say to plant the whole thing and watch it grow. When spring hits I'll try it out.

Wine for your face? For sure!

Arcona Wine hyrdrating mask

I'm not usually a mask girl. Are you?

Even though I've been moisturizing since my early teen years, actually I'm pretty bad about taking care of my face. I think it's more like I'm just plain lazy.

In my mind, to use a mask one must lock herself in the bathroom with a celebrity magazine, a hot bubble bath, her hair in a towel and some wine for oh... about an hour or so. Who's got an hour to pamper herself? Not I.

I did finally take the time to try out this Wine Hydrating Mask by Arcona and it only took about 20 minutes of my time and it was totally worth it.

After 20 or so minutes, I rubbed it off with a warm cloth and oooooh, my skin was so soft. I read on the label that it works over time and with repeated use my skin would be a smooth as a baby's bot-tom. Ok, well not a baby's bottom but at least you'll be transported about 10 years or so.

Try it out - it's great paired with a great merlot!
