Who doesn't love this Fred Flare owl tee?

Fred Flare: night owl tee

This has to be just about the coolest owl tee I've ever seen. Not only is it an owl (an oddly lovable favorite animal of mine), but it's also got tons of hearts and is GLOW IN THE DARK. I. must. have!

Go git it!

My kitty needs a My Doggie Blankee for Christmas!

doggie sweater - zebra pink - black.jpgOMG, I am so in love with My Blankee Blankee's for babies. They are the softest, prettiest and cutest things. I love 'em, I could get a big one for me but they cost an arm and a leg. I have no problem spending the coin for others but for myself, I am totally frugal! Enough said!well I was cruising there site because I scored a My Blankee for my nephew for $15 at TJ Maxx so I had to run to the site to see what it was selling for. I am proud to report that I saved $51, top that! HAHA

So I was looking and came across the My Doggie Blankee stuff or in my case, it would be used on my new kitty. Again, I'll spend the coin on the kitty without batting an eyelash, unless a cute guy was watching then maybe I wouldn't. So I am proud to report these are super cute and your doggie & my kitty can totally rock these. If you look at the press kit, you'll see some of the celebs that scored theirs for free! No fair!

My Doggie Animal Print Sweater in pink & black zebra $20-30
My Blankee Blankets $31-154

Scentsational manly gifts form LUSH!

StockingFella.jpgMy brother can be hard to shop for.  Like me, if he sees something he wants, he usually buys it for himself.  Plus he is into hobbies that I don't even begin to understand (gun restoration is his newest).

He's a manly outdoorsy type of guy, so I have been at a loss as to what to get him for Christmas.  That was until I saw Stocking Fella over at .  I was shopping for a friend's long overdue birthday present when I saw this little lovely already wrapped gift box.  This gift set includes Ambrosia Shaving Creams (which will be perfect because he has sensitive skin), Happy Hippy Shower Gel (which has a nice fresh grapefruit scent infused with frankincense and bergamont that I know he will love) and a Bohemian Natural Soap which has a nice fresh lemony scent (just perfect for him).

The scents of each are masculine without being perfumy or feminine.  I know my brother will love this, because even he likes to indulge in a little bit of luxury in the bathroom and all LUSH products that I have used are luxurious.

Gorgeous hand-dyed yarn for the knitter in your family

firesmall.jpgI love craft supplies.  And while I personally don't knit (I don't have the coordination for it) I do crochet and have a hardcore yarn fetish!  On the top of my Christmas list this year?  Some Perfect Day Yarn.  Each skein is hand dyed and is only available in small runs.  I think her colors are so vibrant and gorgeous...and I think it is awesome many of her colorways are inspired by poems. My favorite by far is the Time of Fire Free Verse Sock yarn as well as the tiger eye stitch markers that she makes by hand as well.  I also love that this little online shop is a small home-based startup company!! Perfect Day Yarn would be a great gift for the knitter (or crocheter) you love.

Perfect Gift: Design a Custom Starbucks Card for your Coffee Lover!

voucher.gif Here is the perfect gift for that Starbucks lover you know - design a personalized Starbucks gift card.  The process is simple.  You start out by picking the basic look of the card from three basic looks (soon to be four).  You then can customize the card to the specific person you are giving it to.  I love this idea.  I have already ordered a couple.  You must order the custom cards online- however you can purchase a voucher in-store if you would rather let the recipient to personalize their own card.

To extend the magic of the season year-round you could make your new personalized card a "magic" Starbucks card by setting it up with an auto-reload! I got a card for my birthday that is set to auto-reload on the 14th of every month by my friend.  It is the yummy gift that keeps on giving all year!!

Warm the cold winter with Harpoon Winter Warmer!

winterwarmer.gifI had the BEST beer last night, Harpoon Winter Warmer.  Listen to this description:

When you bring a glass of this dark copper ale to your lips to take your first sip you will notice the aroma of cinnamon.  There is no aromatic hop added that might overpower the distinct spice scent.  The medium body of this beer is formed from caramel and pale malts.  These create enough body to support the spices without making the beer excessively rich.  Bittering hops are added to counter the sweetness of the malt and spice.  The finish of the beer is a blend of cinnamon and nutmeg.  The combination of these two spices results in a balanced, pumpkin-pie flavor.

It's being offered at the Macaroni Grill, but I'm sure you can also find a six- or 12-pack for that special someone on your list at any store that sells beer in the MA area.   Oh, and hurry; it's only available from November to January.

Makes a great grab gift, too! I can already see the guys fighting over it at the yankee swap this year!

Don't pass up Pass the Pigs!

passpigs.jpgWhen my nieces spent the weekend recently they wanted to play a game, when they came out of the game closet  with Pass the Pigs I could not stop laughing.

Why? I've had the game since the early 90s and it's never been open. I have no idea why we waited this long to open it. But once they opened it, we had the best time ever playing this very addicting, simple game and inexpensive game (only around $9).

It brought back memories of playing games with my family and friends. Now, my nieces are sharing those same memories of their own. I'm going to buy it for them for Christmas so they can play it at their house.

It's a great gift for If you have young kids, young family members or someone who's young at heart, this gift would be the best game for them to get.

Pass the pigs comes in a small case that holds two pink rubber pigs, a small pencil & pad of paper. The directions are very simple and it even shows you the positions the pigs need to be to score points.  Whats even better it does not take up a whole lot of room and can be played pretty much anywhere.

Letter to Santa from a Dooney bag fiend

db bag.jpgDear Santa,

I know it has been awhile since I wrote you but I think I have been extremely good this year!  I would love a new Dooney.  Preferably the cute new slim shoulder bag in Patched Plaid. It is my very favorite of the newer bags and I really want one.  I know it is a little bit costly, but I would be totally fine if that were my only gift this year, because I love it that much.  I know these might be in demand this year so if you run out of the patched plaid I also wouldn't mind the Crossword medium seckio in melon or seafoam.  Either would be nice.  And maybe...if you think I have been really really good you could throw in a the Dooney Hearts keychain and/or the DB Notebook in red or blue I would be the most excited girl in the 'hood!

Love,
Amy

As seen on HGTV: Garden In A Bag

thgibstrawberry.jpgI was watching HGTV during the Thanksgiving holiday and they had a show about the 2007 Gift Show featuring all kinds on interesting and unique gifts. My favorite is the Garden-In-A-Bag by Potting Shed Creations.

Available in a great selection of herbs, flowers, fruits & veggies, and beautiful greens - these kits can be grown indoors, right in the leak-proof bag. And the best part is that they are so fun and easy to grow! All you need to do is mix in the enclosed packet of seed and add water.

The Compactness of the packaging makes these a great gift idea for your college students' bland dorm or off campus apartment.  Best of all? They are very affordable (only $7.50 each). I wouldn't mind some of these myself!

Scentology scents make you smell AND feel good!

scentology.gifI love natural scents, especially scents that are not too floral.  I have just added all three Scentology fragrances to my Christmas list because not only do the scents sound great, but they have a dual purpose:

  • The orange scented Bliss Booster increases happiness and feelings of well-being.

  • The peppermint scented Endurance Enhancer helps increase physical energy and performance.

  • The vanilla scented Crave Control curbs cravings for carbs.

They come in cute slim bottles that fit easily into your pocket or purse and can be sprayed on like a perfume or into the environment.  I originally saw them in a Target catalog (my local target doesn't carry them) but they are all available at target.com!

They weren't kidding about "Ultimate Healing" Thanks Gold Bond!

Gold Bond Ultimate Healing

All this wacky winter weather and change of temperatures has taken its toll on my hands. I have had some minor skin issues like the skin peeling away (not a lot just enough to drive me nuts) so I decided to splurge a little more that I usually spend and get some better hand lotion.

I put some on when I got back to my vehicle and I just fell in love with it right away. It is good stuff and the smell is not strong or overly powerful. A very clean smell. Now I don't go anywhere without it. It has made my hands heal right away.

Very good product!

Curl-Ease makes drying curly hair easy!

I love mine, although I have to pay for them (bone straight hair, don't you know).  The only thing I DON'T like is having to wait forever for my hair to dry!

curl-ease.jpgWait no more!  Curl-Ease to the rescue!  This ultra-thin towel is also ultra-absorbent; wrap it around your head after shampooing, wait 15-20 minutes (you know, while you're putting on makeup or getting dressed), and voilà!  Ready for styling...or just ready to go if you're like me and often need a wash, comb and go morning.

I love this towel and am SO glad to have been able to give it a try.  Do you have any curly haired friends?  Give this to them for Christmas, they'll love you for it!

Seriously, what would we do without Sephora?

P193315_hero.jpgI posted about it last year as well and here it is again, in all its splendid glory. I bought this for two people last year because I had no clue what they liked or wanted. Sephora's scent sampler certificate set is perfection in a gift.

Samples include: Aquolina Pink Sugar, Badgley Mischka, Guerlain My Insolence, Hard Candy Fragrance, Hilary Duff With Love...Hilary Duff, Juicy Couture, Philosophy Inner Grace, Stella McCartney Stella, Vera Wang Princess, and Givenchy Very Irresistable Givenchy Sensual Eau de Parfum, plus an added gift of a refillable atomizer.

How it works:
1. Purchase the Fragrance Gift Certificate - For Her either as a gift, or for yourself.
2. Sample the fragrances and choose a favorite.
3. Fill in the enclosed voucher.
4. Bring the voucher in to your local Sephora store and redeem it for the fragrance you've chosen.

Please note:
1. The voucher is redeemable at Sephora stores only (not valid for online use).
2. Only original vouchers will be honored (photocopies will not be accepted).
3. The voucher cannot be replaced if lost or stolen
4. The Fragrance Gift Certificate - For Her is not available for sale or redemption in Canada.

Cool movies on the cheap with Netflix!

I just bought four movies for $32, along with some pajamas, popcorn and chocolate he is going to be one happy Pop!

Save the earth with this Earth Friendly Tote - one plastic bag at a time

Julie Marie Earth Friendly Tote BagEver since I saw An Inconvenient Truth I've been trying to be a little more gentle with mother earth. One of the things I'm doing is carrying reusable  tote bags everywhere I go. This handmade Earth Friendly Tote Bag made with organic cotton by Julie-Marie has definitely come in handy.

I leave it in my car, and whenever I hop into a store (which happens, like, ALL THE TIME!) I roll it up and stick in my purse. When the time comes for my purchases to go into a plastic shopping bag, I whip this baby out and decline the shopping bag. While it puts one less plastic shopping bag out there in the earth, it's much sturdier and larger than most shopping bags and even better - I'm not adding to that annoying bag of plastic bags that live in the closet.

And it makes for a great Christmas present for any earth loving recipient on your gift list.

Why not check out all the other cool stuff at Julie-Marie, they've got makeup bags, tote bagsdrawstring bags, tissue holders and a whole lot more.

Giving you a little extra light...

That's the motto of the Royal River Candle Company.  I'm happy to have a little extra light, especially when it's coming from their beautifully scented and packaged candles, which incidentally, make GREAT holiday gifts.  I like to support smaller companies, and did I tell you?  Their candles also come with a recipe (pertinent to the scent of the candle) on the side!

blueberry candle.jpegThe one I tried, Wild Maine Blueberry, smelled like the most scrumptious blueberry pie!  These candles are made in the USA by Todd Green of Freeport, Maine and come in 17.5 ounce, 9.5 ounce and 3.5 ounce sizes.  They'll burn for approximately 100 - 110 hours, giving you hours of wonderful fragrance.

Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, pampered and satisfied!

scrub.jpg

So say two sisters from Portland, Maine, who have created a product called The Formulaah and oooh does it smell wonderful!  The scent is a blend of sweet orange, cinnamon and balsam essential oils, but to me it smelled like clove-studded oranges.  I nearly swooned!  Such a Christmas-y aroma; it really brought back some great memories.  One of the products is a scrub, made from sea salt, grapeseed, jojoba and coconut oils, flecks of cranberries, and rose hips in addition to the aforementioned essential oils.  The sisters say:

We learned at a young age that beach sand mixed with salt water, mildly abraded our skin and removed the surface layer of dead cells, leaving our skin smoother and softer.  Because of this, and the rate at which our cuts and scrapes healed, we believe in the therapeutic and rejuvenating affects of the ocean’s salts.

I noticed this to be true last September when I was photographing a wedding on St. Thomas.  While not taking pictures, I spent most of my time in the ocean and a scrape I got from the coral healed VERY quickly!

The after shower body mist and the lotion, which contains chamomile and aloe and absorbs quickly have the same delicious scent.  And I'm can't wait to try their candle!  If anyone on your list is a scent freak like me, or just loves the smell of cinnamon, orange & balsam, put this on your list of presents to buy!

It's a wonderful life after Garmin!

Garmin nüvi 250W GPSOnce upon a time I had no direction. I'd hop into the car to go somewhere new and I'd get completely lost. I'm usually a great navigator, but even the best navigator can get lost when they don't know where they are or where they're going. I would try, though. I'd faithfully put my trust in Google Maps, yet even equipped with the best, most accurate map in the whole wide world, I can still get lost if I don't know where I am.

I had heard all the wondrous things about GPS, but I always thought they were too expensive for me until the lovely Janet bought a phone with GPS (which she nicknamed Jessamyn) and I just thought that was the greatest thing ever.

I did some research and realized that GPS units were nowhere near as expensive as I thought with some starting around $150. Then I contacted Garmin and they were kind enough to let me test this new love of my life, my baby, the "Garmy" Garmin nüvi 250W 4.3-Inch Widescreen Portable GPS Navigator (that's right baby, that's you - who's your momma, that's right!).

Obvs you can tell that I'm happy with it. So happy, in fact, that I just can't bear to part with it (Yes, sweetheart, parting will be such sweet sorrow). So what about it makes me happy? Oh. So. Much!

  1. It tells me where I am.
Because really, most of the time I really have no idea.

  2. It helps me find where I'm going.
It's got a huge database of businesses, services, and just about anything else I can think of - or any address anywhere.

  3. It talks to me.
It gets lonely in the car sometimes, and I suspect I'm not alone here. I especially love that Garmy has a voice (one that I discovered could change from American English to British English and a whole lot of other languages I was afraid to even try).

  4. It tells me when to take a turn.
I get distracted sometimes (Ok, Janet, a LOT!) [only sometimes, Meg!] and I have missed a turn on more than one occasion. My Garmy's fancy GPS functionality knows exactly where I am and tells me exactly when I have to take my next turn, 30 seconds before my turn as well as just as I have to take my turn. This is where Google Maps fail - a piece of paper can't tell me where I am and when I should be turning.

  5. It helps to keep me safe.
Have you ever read printed directions or a map while driving? Yeah, me too. But dude, that shizz is dangerous - you could hurt yourself! Garmy, my dearest, gently points me in the right direction without having to take my eyes off the road.

  6. It corrects me when I make mistakes.
Sometimes I don't listen to what Garmy tells me to do. I'm human, I'm not perfect. But what I love about my Garmy is that it doesn't get angry with me when I make a mistake. If I take the wrong turn or miss and exit, it immediately recalculates my route and tells me how to get back on the right route - without raising its voice [unlike me, sorry Meg! - Janet].

  7. It lets me choose my ride.Garmin GarageI love cutesy little features. My Garmy comes with a few standard cars to choose from (I like the monster truck car!) but I can also download additional cars from the Garmin Garage. How cool is that?

  8. It knows where home is.
And everywhere else I choose to go. I can input my home address and press one button to navigate home from anywhere I am, making me feel all cozy inside. It also remembers the places that I go so I don't have to search for them over and over again.

  9. It silences back seat drivers.
Garmy baby has saved my fiance and I many, many fights in the mere 30 days that I have used it. You see, we both know where we're going yet we rarely agree on how to get there. We don't fight about the directions anymore because Garmy knows it all. I like to put the power in the hands of those who know all the answers. (And before Garmy came along I had the power - that's right!)

  10. It empowers me.
Before I fell in love with Garmy at first sight, I was always reluctant to drive into the city (Boston) myself. It's such a sissy thing, but the city is just so complicated to navigate with six gazillion one way streets, constant construction, traffic, and crazy drivers to deal to boot. Add reading a map or directions to that and you've got a recipe for disaster. I know, I've been there and it always ends up with someone crying (usually me). With Garmy by my side I'm no longer afraid of the big bad city. In fact, I love it. I feel so powerful and confident heading into the city now. In fact, I've been there much more often since Garmy is there to help.
So now that you know how great zee Garmy is, you know you want one for yourself, don't you? It's not too late to add it to your Christmas list (dude, you and I both know that he (or she!) hasn't even started shopping for you - you've got plenty of time). And, it would make a great gift for him or her or just about any driver on your shopping list! Especially the ones (and you know who I'm talkin' 'bout!) that don't even know how to navigate out of their own driveway.

It's very reasonable priced, too. The Garmin web site lists the suggested retail price at around $375, but I know that you can get it at Amazon for about $280. What a freaking bargain, eh?

Be sure to check out the entire family of affordably-priced models. You know you want to!

It's peanut butter jelly time at the Violet Gumdrop

pbj.jpgOn the way to Boston last Saturday night, Megan said she had a present for me and handed me these necklaces.

Do you have a friend who's the peanut butter to your jelly?  This is the perfect gift for her (or him!).  It's whimsical and adorable and oh so cute, definitely for the young at heart.  I wore my half of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich (I was the PB) with pride!  Megan shall be evermore known as Jellah!

Check out Violet Gumdrop; they also have a Milk & Cookie Best Friend Necklace, but I'm a peanut butter kinda gal.  There's also a cute ice cream cone necklace, and the ice cream is sparkled with swarovski crystals.

I love that both sides of the sandwich are smiling :-)

Presto! You've got mail!

HP Printing Mailbox for use with Presto Service

The hardest person on my Christmas list? It's Grammy for sure! She's got everything a lady needs (and them some!) so I can never figure out what to buy her. But I think I hit the jackpot this year with this HP Printing Mailbox for use with Presto Service.

It looks like a printer but it's really an email inbox that lets me (and anyone on her friend's list) send pictures and emails. (Don't worry - no spam here - only people on the specified friend's list can send mail).  My Grandmother doesn't have a computer or Internet access, so this works perfectly for her. She can stay up to date with emails and pictures of the family.

How does it work?
  • It shares an existing phone line to connect to the Presto Service, uses plain paper and standard HP print cartridges. Connection to the Presto Internet Service only costs $9.99/month or $99.99/year.
  • Presto automatically transforms messages into beautiful full-color printouts. Several times per day, on a schedule you choose, the HP Printing Mailbox dials in to the Presto Service to retrieve new messages and prints them in beautiful color-automatically.
  • Presto Service includes unlimited incoming email, photos and free content from the Presto Newsstand. Comes complete with power cord, phone cord, print cartridge, paper, and Easy Setup Guide.
Easy-peasy. Order it today from
  • BestBuy.com (Choose Expedited Shipping for Christmas delivery.)
  • Buy.com (Choose next day air for Christmas delivery)
  • Amazon.com (but unfortunately it won't arrive it in time for Christmas)

ACE his (or her!) gift this holiday!

Click Here! We all know that guys wait until the last minute to do their shopping - but I'm sure quite a few of us shopping maniacs are still running around trying to find the perfect gift. I'm usually really good about getting it all done within a few weeks of Christmas, but my fiance is just so hard to buy for. He doesn't want, need, or even ask for anything, and short of plunking down a grand for a HDTV, I'm out of ideas.

Then it hit me - he loves working around the house and in the yard - I'm SURE he could use some tools or something that would be used on the lawn. But since I politely refrain from yard work I haven't the slightest clue what he would want. But I do know that a gift certificate would be definitely useful. We've got an Ace Hardware right down the street (I think it's his second home!) and I think I'll head on over and pick him up a gift certificate - easy peasy. Gift certificates too impersonal for ya? Head over to the Ace Hardware Gift Guide and you just may happen upon the perfect gift. Just be sure to keep the receipt!
