Wicked Sticky Designs are Wicked Awesome!
I wanted something for my kitchen that was unique but not busy. A friend of mine passed along this link for Wicked Sticky Designs. Perfect! I wanted Live, Laugh, Love but I like to be difficult, so thru the wonders of the internet I got it translated into Gaelic; Beatha, gaire, grá ("Life, laughter, love") . I asked Nicole if she could do it and she said no problem!
No mess, no commitment, no painting! It is that easy. Think of any saying or design and she'll send you a mock-up design for your approval before its made. Prices are based on complexity of design, size, how many colors are involved... plus tax & shipping. (5% + $5 for shipping) The piece I had made was $35. Generally, 25" long x 3" high is about $25. I'm so happy with the way it came out, I'm thinking of other designs for my walls!

The search for the perfect sneaker
They called to me from the window at Journeys. I've never been a huge fan of patchwork. Nah, I used to make fake gag noises at Janet's patchwork obsession. I guess it's rubbed off. Once I met these shoes, I just couldn't help myself. Well, I could. I didn't actually buy them (I'm still trying to justify the $50 for a pair of Keds).
Then I saw these at Macy's and definitely could not justify the $80 price tag. But aren't they cute! Ooooh, I just found this second pair online. Awwww. Je voudrais.
But THEN I just discovered this pair of Skechers Cali "Sunsets-Hermosa Beach" Slip-On Sneakers and without a doubt I knew that I could justify the $49. Why? Well, they're cuter and look a heck of a lot more comfortable than the Keds. I'll be able to wear them more often and get more use out of them.

Natura Pet Products: The healthiest pet food in the world
If you haven't heard already (who couldn't!?) there's a big pet food recall going on. I thought I'd share information about my favorite pet food, which has not been affected by the recall.
When I went shopping for dog food, I needed two things: a brand that I was comfortable with AND the dogs had to like; which seemed like an impossible combination. Then I discovered Innova dry dog food, made by Natura Pet Products, that is available in regular and large dog-sized bites. My dogs LOVE it! Natura also makes biscuits called HealthBars that, I swear, have doggie crack mixed in it!
The best thing about Natura, is that they only use US Suppiers. From what I hear, the pet food that has been recalled seems to be originating from foreign countries. The culprit is wheat gluten; what I've heard is that arsenic was put into the wheat fields to kill rodents. Unfortunately, the poison also got into the wheat.
For more information on the recent pet food recalls, please visit the following links:
- Foods that have NOT been recalled and are SAFE to use
- Recall facts about the recall
- Latest Del Monte recall
"As a precautionary measure, Del Monte Pet Products is voluntarily recalling select product codes of its pet treat products sold under the Jerky Treats, Gravy Train Beef Sticks and Pounce Meaty Morsels brands as well as select dog snack and wet dog food products sold under private label brands."Do be careful what you feed your pets. I know that the dogs and cats I had as a kid got supermarket pet food, but perhaps the things that go in pet food today didn't go in back then.

Starlight, starbright...
This lovely handmade sterling silver pendant is hand-sawn, soldered and topped with various sized sterling stars for a beautifully simple design suitable for everyday wear. The piece is oxidized and buffed leaving behind a great depth and texture to the pendant. It glides freely over an 18 inch sterling ball chain.
I love that this is a custom piece and you add as many stars as you want. The pendant was originally designed to represent the members of the family, but the stars can represent anything you want them to. To me, they're wishes. Which ones? I'll never tell!

"Love, exciting and new"
I have found it! The cutest messenger bag in the whole wide world. No other bag comes anywhere close to the cuteness of this one. I mean, it's called the "Love Boat Messenger" and look at those the cuddly bear, panda, raccoon/lion... and is that a baby seal with a flower on it's head? Come now, if this bag doesn't make you smile, well.... there is something seriously wrong. Call a Doctor; you need a heart transplant.

Message Beans: The New Greeting Card
Why send a card when you can send a Message Bean? A card is so one-dimensional. It sits on a mantle and gets forgotten and thrown away. A Message Bean is a living thing; it grows. Cards? Not so much. Which would you rather get? I thought so. Go grab yours before they're gone!
"Believe it or not, each bean has a word lasered onto one side, and a complementary image on the other. All one has to do to see the "message" is grow the bean. The recipient simply pulls off the foil top and bottom (to let the water drain), and adds about ½ cup of water to the soil. In about a week or so, the bean will poke thru the soil revealing the special message. In today’s crazy world of “real-time”, this is something that is well worth waiting for. Available in Thank You (with Thanks in Japanese), Love (with a heart), Good Luck (with a four leaf clover), and Happy Birthday (with a musical note). Place the aluminum can on a plate or saucer to protect furniture and other surfaces; add water as needed, do not over-water."

I confess: I'm a pen junkie!
If you're like me, you're choosy about your pens. You probably have a specific favorite that you love to write with, correct?
Well, let me introduce you to the Sakura Pigma Micron
by Sakura! They come in various colors and sizes; I prefer the .05, which is a 0.45mm line width, in Blue and Black. The ink is archival quality, which means it's waterproof and will not fade, perfect for drawings or journals.
I use them for writing on the matting of photographs I sell. It's truly an amazing, colorful pen!
Now I know I'm not the only one with an addiction to pens. What's your favorite?

I Want To Tell You A "Secret!"
Having
had a really tough week, a good friend presented me with this book, She had received it as a gift herself and really enjoyed it.
Yes I admit, I am some-what skeptical of "self-help" books, but as I started reading the first few pages, I found myself really absorbed. The book, entitled, "The Secret," by Rhonda Byrne, begins by telling the reader about "The Secret is the law of attraction" that things that come in to your life, are things that you attract into your life. Not clear? Read it! Like me, you will soon understand that you have more control over the things in your life than you know! If you can take just a few good pointers from this book, it's definitely worth it!

The Gardella Vampire Chronicles
While
blogsurfing, I came across the blog of Colleen Gleason, who is the author of a series of books called "The Gardella Vampire Chronicles". "The Rest Falls Away
" is the first book in the series and is also the first that I read.
I do admit to a love of the horror genre, vampires in specific, but I don't care for romance novels in the least nor did I think I cared for vampire hunter-type books (let the poor things live!). So I was quite surprised by how fast I was taken in by this story; I couldn't put it down and finished it in one weekend!
I recently received a copy of her second book (thanks Colleen & Megan!), and I'll review that in the near future! In the meantime, if you like a good vampire novel, please do yourself a favor and pick up "The Rest Falls Away
"! You'll end up eagerly anticipating her second Gardella Vampire Chronicles novel, "Rises The Night
", which will be released on June 2, 2007.
This is the description from http://www.colleengleason.com/pages/books.php Colleen's website:
Beneath the glitter of dazzling 19th-century London Society lurks a bloodthirsty evil... .Vampires have always lived among them, quietly attacking unsuspecting debutantes and dandified lords as well as hackney drivers and Bond Street milliners. If not for the vampire slayers of the Gardella family, these immortal creatures would have long taken over the world.
In every generation, a Gardella is called to accept the family legacy, and this time, Victoria Gardella Grantworth is chosen, on the eve of her debut, to carry the stake.
But as she moves between the crush of ballrooms and dangerous, moonlit streets, Victoria's heart is torn between London's most eligible bachelor, the Marquess of Rockley, and her enigmatic ally, Sebastian Vioget.
And when she comes face to face with the most powerful vampire in history, Victoria must ultimately make the choice between duty and love.

Beijo: You'll want to kiss these bags!
I discovered the Beijo bags at a shopping expo last month. The colors and styling are very unique and they come in so many shapes and sizes. I instantly fell in love with the "The Uptown" bag. The only catch is on order to get one of these fancy bags is to either have a party or go to an event where they have a booth. Both are worth it, since the prices range between $60 to $100 (with the exception of the Business Class)!

A Table Set For Two? Four? Maybe More!
I happened upon these neat disposable place mats, while flipping through a magazine recently. I immediately thought it would be fun to have these for a get together (party!) rather than my standard cloth ones. Spilled Martini? No problem, toss it! Disposable has its advantages; if you get sick of one design, you can switch to another!.There are so many designs; from lobsters and palm trees to hearts. The one that I liked the most? Ditsy! No, there is no implication there; just love the bright yellow design. Go straight to Carrot & Stick Press for more designs.
P.S. A little birdie told me they have more designs to come!

Fudge-a-licious
I received a box of fudge from The Fudge Bar recently.
Now, I have to tell you, as much as I love (eat, breathe, sleep) chocolate, I've never been a huge fudge fan. Why not? Too sugary, too gritty. But this fudge? So not like that. This fudge has to be the smoothest and richest in flavor of any fudge I've ever eaten.
I think I'll have to rethink this fudge thing. Thanks Fudge Bar! You're a hop, skip, and a jump from here. I think I'll have to stop by and test out some of your other gazillion fudge flavors. Like: Fudgegasm, Mint Chocolate Swirl, Chocolate Cheeseake, Mint Oreo...
