Chicken soup for the sniffles
It's that time of the year, isn't it? Sniffle, cough... it's cold season! Mom always said that the best thing for a cold is chicken soup! Not just any old soup will do, either. That stale can of Campbell's Chicken Noodle in the back of the pantry just won't cut it. Grandma's Chicken Soup is in order! Grandma sent me this soup gift package with a half gallon of chicken soup and it was hands-down the best chicken soup ever. Well, except for my mom's chicken soup!
Makes a perfect gift for that out of town friend who needs some chicken soup!

The second I saw this Choco-licious Bracelet at the Pixelgirl Shop I wanted to just eat it up. That could become a problem, but a problem i'm willing to face.
This lovely Green Olive Bracelet is perfect for those nights where only a dirty martini will do! I think I shall!

Never underestimate the power of pearls
I had to admit that I'm not a huge fashionista. *Gasp!* Yes, I know it's shocking, but I've never quite had the knack for putting sassy outfits together and downright terrible at choosing the right accessories. Well, perhaps I'm just being harsh on myself.
For Christmas me Mum picked up this adorable little Freshwater Cultured Pearl Strand and Bracelet Set
(a HUGE bargain at $36.99 and only $2.95 for shipping!) off of my wishlist. Being a huge fan of Jackie O, I had always loved the idea of pearls and added them to my wishlist on a whim. Boy am I glad I did. I totally underestimated what a simple pair of pearls can do to an outfit! They instantly add class to even a pair of jeans and t-shirt.
They've also restored my faith in my ability to accessorize.

Say goodbye to the guesswork!
It’s simple. I took about fifteen minutes this morning and measured myself at my cubicle*. I answered all the questions about material while thinking “I wonder why they want to know this?”. After I plugged in all of my particulars I clicked on “shop for outfits" and voila! Going out, weekend and work outfits tailored to my tastes, style and most important what flatters my body type! Which apparently is an M, why yes, I DO have a rather round bottom!. But not only that, your measurements are cross referenced with the vendors sizing chart and they give you the suggested size.
How does it work? ShapeMatch is a patent-pending system that matches clothing to an individual. By creating a profile which includes measurements, shape and preferences you will find your shape. Once you find your shape, you can shop!
*Although measuring your rise in your cubicle is pretty funny, you may want to do this at home.

Maybe its time to trade in the bottle opener?
While certainly handy, my current bottle-opener key chain (a relic of my former years) is an exact carbon-copy of my fiance's and I have, more than once, left the house with his instead of mine. In my search for a cuter and *eh-ehm* more mature keychain, I found this fancy one. I love it! The pink heart-shaped mother-of-pearl overlay goes perfectly with the silver key chain and hides a locket for your favorite (7/8" x 1") photo. This pretty little keychain is suitably must more mature and even has a round charm that can be monogrammed with up to three initials. Brilliant!

Fanfare for the red skirt!
A wool red skirt with its bold and showy outward attitude has almost entirely disappeared from our stores and streets. Now it can be found only in grandma attics or thrift shops.
Before the holidays I tried to find a nice classic wool red skirt. I searched in large department stores and small boutiques with no result. There were plenty of red tops and of course, dresses, but no skirts.
Why red skirt vs. red top? Red makes every woman pretty, and adds a little glamour to her appearance. However, very few women look good in a lot of red right next to the face. With the red skirt, however there is no danger of this.
After two-moths of searching I found one at Ann Taylor in its clearance section for $29.99. It was there along with a few more of the most unwanted pieces. I imagined a sign on it:
'Warm, pretty, will make a devoted companion to an elegant woman. Suggested donations $29.00"I adopted it. I love it.

Perfume that's sweet AND creamy? Sign me up!
Aquolina's
Pink Sugar Creamy Perfume has distinctive, yummy scent of sugar, fresh blossoms, spices, and cotton candy. It's so sweet, in fact, that if I didn't already know it was perfume, I would have had to taste it. I apply a soft massage of the creamy perfume on my neck, wrists and just about any other area of the body. The best part of this yummy fragrance is its packaging: it comes in a compact, so it is really easy to carry, and it fits even in a small purse. Ladies, this is one hot number and so far, it's only available on-line.

Fear is nothing but a four-letter word
Waaaayyyyy
back in July I was a speaker at the Blogher Conference in San Jose. It was a great conference and I was touched by so many things (the inspiring blog-treprenuers and their friendliness) but what touched me most was Arianna Huffington's contribution to the closing keynote session. Her message was simple: banish fear. She made me realize how much fear keeps me from reaching my goals and really succeeding in life.
I was so impressed by Arianna's message, that I contacted her and she sent me her book and a bunch of copies to share with my friends. I read the book and it embodied everything that I thought it would. I hope you'll enjoy it too. As a special treat, I'm giving away copies to the first five people that comment on this entry. Good luck!

Need a taste of childhood? Have a Whoopie!
Yearning for the childhood pleasures of homemade whoopie pies, but hesitant to deal with the mess of baking? The family-run business Wicked Whoopies gives you all the nostalgic sensations of the fresh desserts, delivered right to your door!
With its bakery in Gardner, ME, Wicked Whoopies offers over 20 varieties of the cream-filled treats, including mint, gingerbread, peanut butter, and even strawberry! I got the chance to sample one of the classic variety, featuring a moist devil's food cake, with a nice, light vanilla cream filling. The portions are individually wrapped for freshness and generously served, but with just the right amount of sweetness that enables the eater to finish the whole pie without feeling overwhelmed. A great party snack, either for kids or the young at heart.
The Classic Wicked Whoopie is just that -- a wonderfully decadent classic whoopie pie! It's deliciously moist and a bit messy, but that's part of the fun! If you're looking to satisfy that serious sweet tooth, this is the treat for you. And it is huge--share one with a friend today!

The Chocolate Connoisseur
As
you all must know by now, I'm a chocolate-addict! It's a major food group, for me. I stumbled across this book last summer, in a quaint little bookstore in NH. Now, while I do adore chocolate, I have to admit that I'm certainly not a connoisseur. This book, however, definitely increased my knowledge of chocolate.
The author, a chocolate buyer for a prestigious London department store Fortnum & Mason, shares her chocolate passion and educates the reader to everything and all things chocolate. She gives us a through history of chocolate, shares her favorite brands, and teaches us how to tell the difference between "good" and "bad" chocolate, and how to "taste" chocolate which is strikingly similar to tasting wine.
This book will make a perfect gift to your favorite chocolate lover this Valentines' Day. Just be sure to stop and pick up some "good" chocolate to pair with it.
