Save Money, Make Money, Shop Early!

I hate to brag, but I've got just about 60% of my holiday shopping done. I really love the holidays, I love to bake and wrap presents and enjoy them, but when I'm fighting traffic and dealing with Mr & Mrs Crankypants at the mall, the enjoyment goes out the window.

Click Here to Start Saving with ING DIRECT!How the heck did I get 60% of my holiday shopping done? Easy! I set up a holiday savings account with ING. I signed up online and have a certain amount deducted from my checking account every month and in October, I withdraw my holiday money and go to town. The malls are empty in October and I can get my shopping done lickety-split.

ING savings account. Not only is it flexible and allows me to set up automatic deductions, but there are a host of other benefits like:

  • No minimum deposit
  • No fees!
  • Incredible 4.40% APY (Dude, my savings account at the credit union only gave me 1% and that is considered good!)
  • 24 hour on-line account access
  • FDIC Insured

ING account? It takes a few days to withdraw my money. While this might seem like a pain in the butt, it's actually a benefit for me. If it takes me a few days to make a withdrawal, I'm less inclined to take my money out. So my money stays in my account and gains a healthy interest rate and when Christmas comes around, I don't have to worry about shopping paycheck to paycheck, I get all my spending money in one chunk and get it all done early.

Exactly why I started an ING account! Less easy access = less money spent!

You should really get an Emigrant Direct savings acct. Their savings rate is 5.05%. There's kind of a backdoor way to be able to transfer between the two (ING-->Emigrant) even tho they are both savings, I can tell you how if you want to get an emigrant acct.

This is a great idea! I've been wanting to do something like this for a very long time but didn't have time to research it.

Yay! I have an ING account too and haven't taken any money out because it takes a few days to do so - a great deterrent!
