Champagne: It's not just for special occasions, anymore
I'm not sure when my love of Champagne began, but I'm sure it coincides with my love of everything expensive. Thing is, most people think that Champagne is only for special occasions, weddings, anniversaries, and the like. Not true! Champagne is a wine just like any other and deserves the same respect at the dinner table. I'm usually on my own with drinking Champagne on a semi-regular basis, which is why I'm so glad that Champagne makers have come out single-serving Champagne bottles (like the one above - Pop by Pommery). This way, I don't have to either drink the whole bottle or waste it. Brilliant!
So now that you're sold on Champagne, try out these fancy new flutes (Edge & Zara) from Crate & Barrel, because like, me, you'll always want to sip your champagne from a fancy glass.

I just knew I wasn't alone in my chocolate addiction! I received this message from our newest reviewer Janet the other day:
Girrrrrrrrrrl, you know how I was saying this weekend chocolate wasn't really my thing so much? Well! This [Vosges Barcelona Bar] is the BEST I've ever had! It's the slight salty taste that does it for me, what a surprise on the tongue! On the back of the box, there are directions on "how to enjoy an exotic candy bar." The 4th step is taste:
"Place a small piece of chocolate on your tongue and press it to the roof of your mouth. Within thirty seconds, thc chocolate square will slowly begin to melt around your tongue. Dark milk chocolate melts into the mineral and sumptuous taste of sea salt and roasted almonds, reminiscent of Marcona, Spain."It's quite expensive, $7.49 for 3.4 ounce (97 grams) bar, but why not indulge in a small piece as a luxurious treat every now and then...YUM!
This is my new favorite treat!
Thanks Janet!

Reader Laura was kind enough to share her experience with Aveeno Positively Smooth Lotion.
"I live in Nevada... think 7% humidity. From the day I started shaving, my skin started protesting. I just learned to deal with terribly itchy, dry skin immediately after shaving (until I'd slathered on lotion about five times). Until I found Aveeno Positively Smooth Lotion. It is my go-to, never-fail lotion. One application right after razoring up and my skin is SUPER happy, moisturized, and best of all, NOT itchy! It's a miracle product and I've gotten so many people hooked on it."Thanks Laura!

I admit it, I'm a LUSH. That is - I adore LUSH. What's LUSH? Heaven. It's an amazingly wonderful handmade cosmetics shop.
I first heard about LUSH from Erin, who sang their praises. Not too long afterward, I received a box of LUSH bath goodies from Itsy and I was hooked forever. What makes it so different from any other shop? The products are amazing. They all smell fantastic and feel even better on your skin. After my first bath with a LUSH bath bomb/bubble bar, my skin felt so soft and smooth, I knew could never go back! And neither will you!
It's so hard to choose a favorite, but here are two that I adore!

I like yogurt, but I reaaaaallly loooooove Stonyfield Farm's Fat Free Chocolate Underground Yogurt. Chocolate yogurt?! Tell me you're not surprised!
I'm not a huge milk fan, so it can sometimes be a struggle to get my daily dose of calcium. At least that was the case until I discovered this little piece of heaven on earth. Stonyfield Farm's yogurt is smooth and creamy and distinctly chocolatey, and the best part is that it's all natural so there's none of the nasty sweetener aftertaste. And did I mention it's fat-free?
I pick up a supply during my weekly shopping trip, it's carried at most grocery stores. But a word of warning to you - this stuff goes pretty fast. There has been more than one time I had to threaten Jimbo not to come home until he found it. Can't find it where you are? No worries. Amazon will ship it to you. Awesome!

Baggies are just so darn versatile. Now, I'm mostly using them for portion control - I separate cookies, crackers, snacks into one-serving-size baggies. Then, when I'm putting my lunch together, or need a snack on a go, I just grab a baggie and I'm on my way. I also use them for packing and storage, too. The possibilities are endless.
Given my love for baggies, you can imagine my joy in discovering these adorably-designed baggies at Spoon Sisters. I just can't wait to get my snacks in them so I can show them off!

Related EntriesA Different Kind of Parfumerie
A friend of mine was talking about scents recently; specifically the Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, a company which I'd never heard of, which specializes in "formulating intriguing, compelling body and household blends with a dark, romantic Gothic tone." I clicked on the link and was happily immersed in reading about all the different scents these people put together!
Being the 'unique' person I am, the scents that most appealed to me were of the darker, spicer type:
Les Infortunes de la Vertu: ...blend of leather, oakmoss, orange blossom, amber, and rose with a breath of virginal French florals and a hint of austere monastic penitential incense.
Laudanum: The essence of the most debauched hunger encapsulated into a perfume. Desire beyond love, anguish beyond sanity. Nutmeg, sassafras, black poppy and myrrh.
They even have The 7 Deadly Sins made into perfume, of which Greed (base and earthy, yet glittering with golden notes: patchouli, heliotrope, copal and oakmoss) and Lust (red musk, patchouli, ylang ylang and myrrh) intrigued me (the description of the scent, not the actual sin!).
For those of you that enjoy a lighter, cleaner or more flowery fragrance, they have those as well! In fact, a friend thought this perfume sounded fantastic: "...a light, pure scent: white musk, green tea, aloe and lemon."; she laughed at the name...Embalming Fluid!
In closing, any place that features a Dorothy Parker quote is ok by me:
I like to drink martinis
Two at the very most.
Three, I'm under the table,
Four, I'm under my host.

Did I mention that these must-haves are pretty dear? Meaning this isn’t your Target kind of find. Starting at $38 and going to three digits, they’ll take a few weeks allowance!

Related EntriesMake Tea Time Into "Me" Time with Aveda Comforting Tea Bags
It's that time of year again--the leaves are turning and there's a little chill in the air. That can mean only one thing: time for tea! I'm a huge tea fan, so when I stepped into Aveda while on a shopping trip with Janet, and was offered a cup of tea, I immediately accepted and fell in love. This tea is a soothing, organic combination of licorice root and peppermint. I know what you're thinking (or what I was thinking!). Licorice??? Eww! But let me tell you - there was no obvious licorice flavor, but a sweetness along with the peppermint that stayed in your mouth and was ultimately very comforting.
As I said, I was immediately in love and this soon became my favorite tea of all time. I'm a huge fan of tea bags, but they also offer a loose form that Janet recommended, and she swears it gives a richer flavor.
Now I must warn you that it's a bit more expensive than your typical teas, at $14 for 20 tea bags or $24 for 4.9 oz of loose tea, but I find it's totally worth it. If you want to try before you buy, just hop into any Aveda store and grab a sample - they always have tea brewing for customers. And while you're there, grab a ritual. The last time Janet and I were there we got free hand and head massages and they were fantabulous!
They also have a marvelous birthday program. All you have to do is sign up and you get a free gift (I got a full-sized custom fragrance) on your birthday. A great way to celebrate!
